Good News
Encouraging news again has been released for thia area. Untune combining the addition to the facilities of the WclU Alum inum Plant in North Lib Tty. Through the efforts of the company and the North Lib ty J >evelopnunt As.*Hiation, this expansion has been made possible tn North Liberty. Every community with any desire to grow and improve at all is making an effort to attract an 1 expand industry Despite tlie fact that few new industries have located m our immediate area recently. b ith North Liberty anti Walkerton are working along then* lines Attracting industry is a hard j<to and takes the combined effort of many people. Cer’amly those working with such groups spend time and effort in trying to attract industry, and thus is often done to the extent to forget about the industry already present. Keeping an industry and helping it to expand can mean as much, if not more, to a community than adding to the already present companies The loss of a company can hurt more tn an the adding of one can hMp, especially in cases where inudi Voice Os The People Persona having telephones on party lines should be <ymsiderate of neighbors on their line. Leaving receivers off all night could cause plenty of trouble. Any , emergency oould arise, a terrible j fire or sickness, and for myself. I never know when I will need a doctor in a hurry. At 5:30 Saturday afternoon, I ' had to make a trip into town because someon,- had left the receive off, when I could have used a ph »ne. I listened in aevaral times during the evening and at 1 seven the next morning the receiver was still off. Tilts has happened before but never for this * length of time and maybe not the same phone. 1 I don't know who or how many are on our party line. But this line or any other lm< when you have eight or ten on a line, neigh- ' bons should check their phones and not let this happen. local labor is lined by the existing facilities. Rogtuxlles.s of what one may think, employment in our area is good. The loss of Studebakers a few years ago to South B -nd hurt Walkerton and North Liberty and this area However, to date everyone who wants to work is working. TSu-rc is always going to be unemployment in an area, but the very low rate now present in St. Joseph County and th- immediate area is more than eneowaging. In fact, the employment rate is so good it is hard to find p-ople who r«dly w.tnt to work. There wall always be i few who really don’t cam and would just as lief collect what unemployment they can when -ver possible. But once again wo will state, tJiat anyone that wants to work in thia area is working The addition of facilities at Wells will not only add to the employment at that plant, but solidify tho site in North Liberty for those who presently are employed by this company. This is the very strong advantage in keeping the present industry we haw happy in their present locations three other dogs killed. Sunday, Jan. 17, my neighbor found the first dog dt^ad. It was not my dog. someone left it here, I didn't have the heart to do the same to her Why do people leave ; dogs and rats at oth<»r people's I homes ? < On January 2fL I also took a ■ lost pup to my home. I took her ; outdoors and saw her pick some- ; thing up at the bottom of the stairs. She walked up the stairs and dropjM-d over. I rushed her to the doctor who told me what I already knew', dead! In between all this, my cats died. On FVb. 4 I found a strange dog dead at my garage door. Feb. 13 I walked tn the garage and my dog went with me and came right back with me . When he got in the hous,» he start <si to st niggle. I know what had happened. I called the state trooper who had to ifroot him as he was suffering so terribly Whoever you are, you must have a lot of nerve to bring whatever you put here so close to the house. I am alone. I needed my dog and also loved him. Would you like some one to do the same to you. Mrs Howard Crumbnck
