Mrs. Margaret Leßoy of San Diego, California, returned to her home after several weeks visit here with her brother and Sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Morrison. Mrs. May Richey. Joe Richey and Mrs. Marian Melton of Daytona Beach. Florida, have been house guests for st veral days of their son and brother, Mr. and Mrs Paul Richey. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bowers, of Seattle. Washington. and Mr. and Mrs. Jake Bowel's of Sodus, Michigan, were last Friday visitors of Mr. and Mrt». Brooke Bowers. * Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Skinner returned last Wednesday from a two weeks visit with the latter's Bister. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Smith at Lake of the Ozarks. Sunrise Beach. Missouri. While there, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Skinner drove to Kansas City, and spent several days with Mrs. Smith’s daughter. Mrs. Bonnie Arnold. Mr. and Mrs George F< m erda entertained with dinner last Friday evening for Mrs Lilly Carlson of Woodland Hills. Ca’if., and Mrs. Hildur Ricketts of West Covina. Calif. Other guests were Mrs. Clyde Chapman. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Verkier. Mr. and Mrs. Newton Williams and Mrs. Ellen Brede. Mr. and Mrs. Russe’l Burch, Hamlet, entertained the Burch family Sunday for a get-together at dinner. Scholarships Topic Os Legion Auxiliary Meeting "Study our Scholarships and Stress our Scholarships" stands for the SOS slogan of the American Legion Auxiliary. Lo< al members will meet at 8 p.m. tonight (Thursday) at the Post Home to learn more of the 10,000 scholarships worth a billion dollars in benefits, loans and opportunities. Higher education is no longer a luxury, it is a necessity. College educated youths are needed to hold our place in the world. We need leaders and education will keep those leaders coming, according to the 1965 Department Education and Scholarship chairman. Mrs Linder Schmeltz Is the local scholarship chairman. Sho and her committee have mot together to prepare recommendations for a local scholarship gift ready for approval of the Auxiliary Unit. On her committee arc four teachers. Mrs. Wilder Burnsides. Mrs. Arthur Grote. Mrs William Heim and Mrs. James Verkkr plus two other members, Mrs Wayne Hostetler and Mrs. Harry Mal staff. Mrs. Schmeltz will be In charge of the program portion of the meeting in which every parent will be interested. al. Nearly 7000 youngsters from Indiana, 18 to 22, are eligible for this continued financial assistance for education. It is estimated that $195 million in direct benetit payments will be paid to students in this group during the year 1965-66 that the law is first in effect. American Legion and Auxiliary education and scholarship chair--1 men can be of great service to those eligible in their communities. Atomic Energy Demonstrated At N. Liberty On September 16, in the new gym, the student budy of North Liberty High School viewed- a program entitled "This A tomia World" sponsored by the U. S. Atomic Energy Commission. Presenting the program was James M. Stuckey. Mr. Stuckey’s program dealt ergy and the role of the atom in with the principles of atomic enagriculture, industry and medicine. He demonstrated some very interesting experiments, some of whi<h were participated in by Volunteers from the audience. For the remainder of th© day, Mr. Stuckey was kind enough to visit the science and math classes and give them additional information concerning the atom and its principles.
