ONE CAR CRASH TAKES LIFE OF BOY
North Liberty Homecoming Set { For This Week The fifth annual Homecoming program is being planned for the North Liberty High School. Undefeated »North Liberty will take on Knox High School in their annual homecoming football game Saturday, October 2, at 2:00 p. m. at the Shamrocks field. Coach Jack Lowe's Shamrocks are hoping to make the Redskins their 13th consecutive victim. The townspeople and members of the student body arc proud of the accomplishments of the squad thus far. and are looking forward to the big game on Saturday. The town is currently contributing to the festive atmosphere, with twenty merchants decorating their places of business in line with the occasion. On Saturday morning, the decorations will be judged by a committee from the Boosters Club. The Football Bon-tr»-s Club has purchased a revolving trophy to bo presented t^ the pinner at the half of the game. Floats are bei: g prepared by each class and will take part in the parade prior to the football game. Students of North Liberty high school have selected a queen and court who will be crowned at the half of the football game and will be recognized at the. Saturday’s activities will begin with a parade through town at 1.00 pm. a half time show at which time the North Liberty high school band, under the direction of Richard Vantier Hagen, will perform and decoration and float winners will be announced. The program will be culminated with a Homecoming Lance sponsored by the listers Club, from 8:30 to 11:3d p m in the high school gym. Live music will be furnished by the Trondells from I .a Porte. veils and white glamellias and bachelor buttons were carried. Powder blue lace dresses styled with tiered skirts were worn by the flowere girls. Braided roses were their headpieces and white carnaticns and bachelor buttons were their flowers. The bride's mother wore a two-piece champagne brocade dress, and the bridegroom's mother chose a beige brocade sheath. Both wore pink glamellia corsages. The church social room was the scene of the luncheon and reception. Following a short trip, the couple will reside at 23811 Roosevelt Rd- The bride is a graduate of Tyner High School and Vogue Beauty College. The bridegroom is a graduate of the Greene High School. Homecoming Plans Complete For Walkerton The Annual Homecoming Program is being planned by th* Walkerton Future Farmers of America. The town is currently contributing to the festive atmosphere with many of the merchants having students decorating their places of business in line with the occasion. The studentfl of Walkerton High School have selected candidates for the 1965 Homecoming Queen and her court. The twelve candidates are: Virginia Gilmer, Senior; Terry Stull, Junior: Frances Anspaugh. Sophomore: Janice Hartsough. Freshman; Vicki Bullinger. FFA; Nancy William-. Hi-Y; Michealene Szady. Student Council; Margie lee. FHA; Linda Pontius. Annual Staff. Linda Keck, GA A; Anita Kearcher. Spanish Club; and Sharon File* v. Pep Club. From these 12. five were chosen for the finalist.® They are: Virginia Gilmer, Terry Stull. Frances Anrpaugh. Janice Hartsough and Nancy Williams. The Homecoming program will begin on Thursday with a parade of the many entries The parade route will start at 6:30 from the high school and go to Kentucky St., up to Michigan to Roosevelt Road to Indiana Street, then south to Jackson Street and back down to the park for the warming bonfire and the enthusiastic pep rally The judges' sta- d will be set up on the. Town l^awn to judge the entries and they are also the judges who will judge the window displays. A ■roving trophy will travel to the beat float among these out of school groups. N. L. Freshman Dies Os Injuries On Saturday An early morning one-car cra-h Saturday took the life of a 15-year-old North Liberty boy who was riding with two other boys west of North Liberty in State Road I. when the cra.-h occured Gerald E. Boren, son of Mr and Mrs. Roy Boren, route 1, box 163, was pronounced dead by St. Joseph County Coroner. Dr Harry Lialwick. at the scene of the crash. Head injuries were responsib'e for the death. The Indiana State Police investigated the accident, and according to their report, the car was being driven eastbound on Indiana I about three miles west of North Liberty when it went out of control on a curve The auto careened off the right side of the road for about 358 feet, then swung back on the road at an angle and traveled another 90 feet. The vehicle then swerved off the left side of the road in a broadside skid before turning over. ?\fter turning’ completely over, it came to rest on its top. No speed was estimated by the police.
