Large Crowd At First Walkerton PTA Meeting The first meeting of the Walkerton Patent-Teachers AaFoCUtion held in the Elementary School building with a large attendance of parent* and teachers. President Mrs. John Powell open‘xl the meeting with the pledge to the flag and Rev. David Eikr of the E.U.B. Church gave the invocatlon. Mr>. Powell announced the theme for the 1965-66 school year will be "Protecting our Doorway* to the Future." Jacob Hartman, elementary school principal, thanked the P.T.A. for the new playground equipment. The children now have six basketballs and backboard*, eight tether balls and mountings, teeter outfits, monkey bars. Mx utility balls, three volley ball and net*, and 12 softballs and bats. This equipment has long been needed for the elementary school. The Polk - Lincoln - Johnson School Board was introduc'vt and the two principals, Mr. Hartman ami Harold Muncie, principal of the Walkerton High School, were Introduced and Introduced their teachers. A very Interesting skit on membership was given by two of Mrs. Boise's 7th grade students. Cindy Huhnke and Paula Payton. Dr. Hobbs, superintendent of schools, was the guest speaker. He spoke on what our school is planning to do for the educational environment for our voung people. Ho touched on the subject* of our buses. schools, curriculum, end faru ty. He introduced Miss Frank, the math teacher in the high school, who in turn introduced modern math With chalk and blackboard, she gave a brief idea of how it is being taught in our high school. The date was announced for the annual PT. A Fish Fry which is to be held November 6. The committee will scon be contacting all moms and dads to give them a hand to make this fish fry a big suce»«w. After the meeting was adjourned. a social hour and salad bar was enjoyed by the group. Mk s Evelyn lout was maid of honor and Miss Terry’ Toth was flower girl. Both are sisters of the bride, Michael Rienks. Edwardsburg. was best man. Ushers were Harold Addington, of South Bend; Dennis and Dan Daughtery. Vandalia, Die bridegroom’s cousins, and Ernest Toth, the bride's brother. Escorted to the altar by her father, the brale wore a gown of organza and taffeta styled with a fitted bodice, scalloped neckline, long sleeves and a bell skirt which ended in a chapel train. Chantilly Lace, seed pearl* and crystals highlighted the gown. Crystals anil lace petals held her English illusion veil and she carried a bouquet of white glamellias and camelia foliage. Yellow street-length dresses of linen acetate featuring bell skirt* and back bow? were worn by the attendants Clusters of yellow roses secured their veils and yellow roses and camelia foliage were their flowers A yellow linen acetate dress trimmed in white eyelet lac c wax worn by the flower girl Sho wore yellow and white carnations in her hair and carried a gold basket of vellow and white petals. The bride's mother chose a blue raven crepe dross with a lace bodies and the bridegr om’s mother wore a wool-blend red dress Both wore corsares of gardenias with Mrs. Toth’s corsage accented with white feathered carnations The Laurel Club was the scene of the recent ion The connle left on a trin to northern MicMran.
