LOCAL SCHOOLS OPEN NEXT WEEK
Students Report On Wednesday At PLJ Schools Students attending the Polk-Lincoln-Johnson School Corporation will report to their respective buildings at 8:50 a.m. Sept. Bth, for registration. Time will be spent enrolling, di;-cfussing school regulations, and checking for final conflicts. Students will be dismissed at 11:15 a.m. The following day, Sept. 9th. students will attend classes for the full HP Kindergarten Enrollment For P-L-J School opens for Kindergarten youngsters on Thursday, September 9, 1965. All kindergarten students that ride a bus u dl be picked up on Thursday and Friday mornings of Sept. 9 and 10, for the morning session from 8:30 to 9:30 a m. Polk Township kindergarten students will be transported from the Tyner school to the Walkerton building. Parents should arrange to pick up their children at 9:30 on September 9 and 10. Kindergarten students living in Walkerton will attend the second session from 1:20 to 2:20 pm. for September 9 and 10. Parents will be notified by letter on September 10, concerning the final arrangements for the kindergarten schedule, increased enrollment may necessitate three sections rather than two. Explains Plans For Special Education A meeting was held at the Walkerton elementary building Monday, August 30, so parents having handi< apped children. The superintendent of Polk-Lin-coln-Johnson School Corporation explained that due to the small school enrollment and limited school facilities, the corporation offers no clasps for special education students. He explained, however, that the Board of School Trustees would provide tuition for transferring sp'cial education students to the South Bend Schoo! Corporation for a qualified special educational program. The board would also provide expenses for transporting students if transportation can be arranger!. U Firemen To Have Auction Sale Saturday Saturday, September 4, is the date of the North Liberty Fire Department’s Auction Sale to lie held at the North Liberty Community Building. The .sale will begin at 10:30 am with Dick Palmer, of Koontz Lake, doing the auctioneering. Lunch will be served at the sale. The firemen are still seeking articles to toe donated for this sale. Chapman perfomed the 7 o'clock candlelight double ring ceremony before an altar flanked by palms, baskets of white mums and candelabra Mrs. Emma Hurt, aunt of the b ide, was the organist, and Rev. William Minnis, vocalist. Given in marriage by her father. the bride wore a gown of white peau de sole, fa hinned with a scoop neckline. Appliques of Alencon lace were on the fitted bodice and fiont of the skirt. Lace motifs outlined the bouffant detachable train which was fastemd at the front with a narrow self bow. A full veil of silk illusion was attached to a forward rose of rayon peau anti trimmed with Ah neon lace, highlighted with a tiny otchid of the lace. The bride carried a cascade of white bridal roses mixed with stephanotis and ivy. Mrs Jerry Phillips, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor, anti Miss Connie Perry and Miss Peggy Bean were the bridesmaids The attendants wore identical floor length gowns of sata peau fashioned with necklines. The mother of the bride chose to wear a light blue Ciepe and lace dress with white accessories. B< th wore corsages of white carnations. A reception was held following the ceremony. The couple will live at 7-2 Ro-m Ade Dr., West Lafayette, Ind. The bride was graduated from Winslow High School and Oakland City College. During the past year, she was employed as an elementary teacher in the Mt. Vernon, Ind., school. The coming year she will teach in Lafayette. The bridegroom Ls a graduate of Walkerton High School and is a senior at Purdue I’niversity, majoring in conaeivation education. Season Tickets On Sale At North l iberty School Principal Keith Davis has announced that football season tickets are now’ available at the high school office. Adult prices for the home games are $3.00 and student prices are $1 50. Four home games are covered by the tickets this year, starting with Saturday’s game with Walkerton.

Also surviving are a daughter. Lsia Ann; two stepsons, James and Thomas Bulington; a brother. Richard, (Chicago; a sister, Mrs, Margaret Weber, Fort Wayne, and his mother, Mrs Mary Gollhofer, Walkerton. Funeral services were held at 11 am. Saturday in the Hairy Price Funeral Home, Knox, with Rev. Harold Williams of the Walkerton Methodist Chun h officiating. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Knox. North Liberty To Assemble On Tuesday Students of the North Liberty Elementary and High School will report next Tuesday, September 7, at 3:15 a.m. for registration. The buses will be on their regular runs, with students to be returned to their homes, with buses leaving school around 9:15. Bo< k rental fees may be paid throughout the remainder of that day, until 4:00 p in. All regular fees remain the same as last school year, and may be paid either by the semester or for the year. Fees are to be paid during the first week at school. Classes will t> on the regular schedule beginning < n Wednesday, September 8. with the exception of kindergarten, wheie classes will not begin until Friday. September 10. Kindergarten registration will take place on Tuesday. Wednesday and 1 hursday, September 7, 8 and 9. with each child and parent scheduled for an appointment for the completion of registration. The other new teacher on the full-time staff in the elementary school is Mrs Elmer Halt, of North Liberty, graduate of the North Liberty High School and Bethel College, graduating last spring Mrs. Halt completed her work last winter, and finished the school year as a teacher at the O'Brien School in South Bend. She will be one of the sth grade teachers.
