room sessions begin. The ow ning game for Walkerton and North Liberty, against each < ther. is cnly nine days away and should successfully start another season for the two teams. NORTH LIBERTY THE PAST two years, has risen to the top in this area in competition in this class The Shamrocks have had two tremendous seasons and are hopeful for a third in a row under the direction of Jack Lowe. By the end of last season, the Shamrocks were using many underclassmen in their lineups, both offensively ad defensively. This gives a pretty good returning crop of players for coach Law to stall building his team for 1965 from. WALKERTON. Not only were the city schools exceptionally string, but many of the smaller school* also field? i outstanding teams An outstanding record like the Shanuocks is something to really be appreciated and proud of for the players, si hool and fans. On the other hand, the Walkerton people can justifiably be proud of theii team which competed with a strong schedule and even though they were beaten rathe: badly several times, never gave up as wa* indicated in the szanon'R final garni again t the Shamrocks. In the past it has just been a few boys eairymg on the program in high school. FOOTBALL IS DEFINITELY here to stay on the high school level It won t be Ung until about every school will have the sport with the reo gamzation program doing away with the extremely small sch< cl. A high school team can easily use 35-40 boys in competition as unlimited substitution still gives at least 22 boys a regular job if the coach so ilesites. The specialists can do one ’<»b good and be a very important part in the team. MANY SHY AWAY FROM the sport becau e of the roughness of a body contact sport. However, with the Hiles being tight- ned all the tune concerning safety equipment and a properlyconditioned team along with the light procedure being used by the b< ys. injuries aren’t as much a threat as they used to be What is really needed now is the wholehearted suppo t of the school and the fans and football will be a number one attraction at the high school level the same as it is in colleges.
