Most valuable basketball player trophy was presented to Terry Lute who also won the rebound trophy as well. Adam Mann took the assists trophy and Ron Williams the free throw trophy with a .740 pct. The nighest award in all sports is a plaque for earning eight letters. This year there were four, Terry Lute, Ron Williams, Tom Klinedinst and Gary Clark. The Cross Country award for the fastest time was a trophy presented to Terry Daniels. Football trophys went to Tom Klinedinst for backfield player of the year; Ron Williams as lineman of the year and also for getting the most tackles. Rick Trost .won the B-team basketball trophy for fiee throws. Letters were awarded for points won in all sports. They include Dean Vandall, Mike Ross, Dan Charles, Bob Betz. Dave Huff, Ron Bellinger. Lanny Savoie, Mike Westhues, Mike Pearish. Ron Schroeder, Joe Spinsky. Jerry Sheaks, Rick Ruby and Terry Daniels. Sweaters were awarded varsity cheer leaders for three years to Ann Clark and Karen Gillette. Numerals for first year cheerleaders on varsity were Elaine Knowlton and Sherry Wireman, and for the fr-team Kay Powell and Marilyn Lute. Refreshments were served more than one hundred persons present. WHS Competes In First Golf Meet A “First" was held last Tuesday, May 11, for the Walkerton High School Athletic department as coach John Bingaman took a golf team to Hamlet for a nine ho|e meet with Union Twp. and Oregon-Davis') This is the first golf match in history for Walkerton, but is a sport that will be continued in the future. Dave Scott of Walkerton was the medalist for Hie game despite the fact that\Jnion racked up a win by a score of 198 to Walkerton’s 207. Oregon-Davis was |ast with 235.^) The other Walkerton scores were Ronnie Williams, 49, Kelly Powell, 57, and Bil| Hiatt, 61. * N. L. Jr. High Loses Dual To Bremen On May 11, the North Liberty Jr. High track squads were defeated in a dual meet at Bremen. The Bth grade meet was won by Bremen. 46-MO; while their 7th graders outdistanced our boys, 47-35. Winning first places in this meet for Liberty were: 7th grade, Hurdles, Tim Baughman 330 yard dash. Baughman Shot put. Bill Dove High jump. Jim Fair, in a tie with Fisher of Bremen Broad jump. Jim P',unkctt 440 yard relay team won first. First place winners in the Bth grade meet were: 880 yard run, Dale Borton High jump, Ron Young 880 yard relay composed of Dennie Hurt, Dennie O’Connor, Marty Shupert and Kevin Hostetler. The South Bend Community School, Corporation Jr. High track sectional was held at Washington’s Field on Wednesday, May 19th. North Liberty was expecting to win some points in this meet, especially in the field events. Tn the Elementary School meet held at Washington last week, Devon Ross in the shot put, and Shane Hostetler in the broad jump, won first place ribbons. N-LToES News North Liberty Chapter 290, of GES, will have a called meeting in the chapter room at 8:00 Monday evening. May 24. at which time the initiatory degrees wiy be conferred on candidates. A special guest will be Mrs. Ray Oberly of Bremen, Ind., who was recently ejected associate Grand Conductress of the Indiana Grand Chapter at the Grand Chapter session held in Indianapolis. A social hour wil\ follow the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. James Wolfe, matron and patron, Mrs. Donald Kuber, associate matron. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Trobaugh Jr., past matron and patron, Mrs. Hiram Rupel, and Mrs. Travis Jones, past matrons, were among those who attended a “Wel(come Home” party at the Bremen chapter, honomg Mrs. Oberly recently. The regular meeting of the chapter will be helfl on Tuesday evening, May 25, at which time Mrs. Kuber wil\ give a report on the grand chapter sessions. Girl Scout Day Camp Girl Scouts who are interested in day camp or established camp this year are urged to get their applications completed and turned In to their respective leaders Immediately. Planning for Day Camp is progressing, but it is very important to know’ how manv girls will be enrolled. Mrs. James Lee, camp director, held her first training session for the adult leaders Tuesday at
