39 Seniors To Graduate At Tyner Tyner High School will graduate 39 seniors on Monday, May 24, with the Baccalaureate services to be held Sunday. The Commencement exercises wip be at 8:00 p m. and Baccalaureate services at 2:00 p m. Sunday. Dean F. Berklay, will deliver the commencement address and Rev. Arthur Skinnsr ths baccalaureate address. □— _ □ MARRIAGES □ □ (tark-llolkind Miss Judith Ann Clark became the bride of Danny Lee Holland at 2;30 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the North Liberty Methodist (Jhurch. Rev. Ray Mills, of the Gary Methodist church, and Rev. Charles Patterson, local pastor, assisting, performed the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with cathedral vases of white gladioli and white carnations. A white carpet lined aisle and white aatm bows marked the pews. Miss Clark is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jean R. Clark. 101 North Jefferson Steeet, North Liberty, and the bridegroom is the son ,f Mr. and Mrs Devon Holland, Route 3, Walkerton. Mrs. Gary Nelson, North Liberty, was the vocalist, with Miss Mary Lee Loucks poviding the organ music. The lovely bride was given in marriage by her father, wearing a bridal white pure silk gown of organza. The bodice was fashioned with a scoop neckline and above the elbow sleeves. The natural waistline was accented with a cummerbund effect of re-em-broidered alencon lace. The skirt featured an A-line shape, and was trimmed at the lower edge with the alencon lace In a “wedding cake motif" of scallops and flowerettes, the detachable chapel length train had ribbons of appliqued lace throughout the folds of its peacock Shaping. Her headpiece was heart shaped of matching lace and satin encrusted with pearls topped with an organza fabric rose, and held her elbow length veil of imported illusion. She earned a cascade bouquet of ,white roses and stephanotis and green foliage. Miss Darlene Allsop, North Liberty, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor, and Miss Margaret Martin, Walkerton, cousin of the bridegroom was bridesmaid. Serving as Junior bridesmaid was Miss Lee Ellen Clark, sister of the bride. The bride's chosen colors of Rainbow hues orchid, blue and pink were styled identically for each of the attendants. Thqv featured a slim sheath skirt with a bouffant overskirt starting at each aide. The natural waistline was banded with a folded cummerbund of matching and contrasting shades The molded bodice had a wide scoop neckline and above the elbow sleeves. Matching headpieces featuring the butterfly veil were made of muliple leaves. Centering this was matching lily of the valley, surrounded with a crown effect of iridescent sequins. They each carried a semi-crescent bouquet of phalaenopaib and stephanotis and ivy. Walter Cole, Walkerton, served as best man with Michael Clark, brother of the bride, as groomsman. Ushers were David Knowlton. David Shirk and Gary Clark, all of Walkerton, and Larry Dean. North Liberty. A reception immediately followed in the church social rooms for some 300 guests. The bride's colors of pink, lavender and blue, were seen in a crepe paper canopy with white /wedding bells over the gift table The four tiered wedding cake all in white, was topped with wedding bells, lily of the valley with bells and ribbon decorating each tier. St, Patricks To Graduate 22 i Sunday, May 23 St. Patrick Grade School will have its commencement exercises for twenty-two eighth graders on Sunday, May 23, at 2 p.m. in the School Hall. In the morning they will attend the 9 o’clock Holy Mass which will be offered for their intention by Rev. Anthony Letko. During the afternoon program, among the various awards to be presented, will be the two scholarships merited by Greg Hartsell and Stephen Zlatos. as maintaining the highest scholastic average. Greg Hartsell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Hartsell, wdl speak on behalf of the c’ass as valedictorian, and Stephen Zlatos will render the salutatory address Stephen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Zlatos The Good Citizenship Medals awarded annually by the Sons of the American Revolution, the Tri Kappa awards, the Vocation E- - award, and the spelling championship plaque will also be distributed to the honor students. May 21st. Devotions will be given by Mrs. E. P. McDaniel. Mrs Fred DeCoudres will show slides of our Home Life Program. "Come Catch A Rainbow” furnished by the Pittsburg Glass Co. to all federated clubs. May 20, has been permanently postponed, due to the death Tuesday of the mother of Miss Frances Lindley, the Home Economics teacher. It is with regret that the review was called off. but due to the circumstances, the home economics girls voted to cancel for this year. were Mrs. William Nixon, North Liberty; Mrs John Tetzlaff and Miss Donna Mathewson, both of South Bend Miss Phyllis Emmons was in charge of the guest book and Mrs. Charles Gaby the gift table. The bride is a 1963 graduate of North Liberty H.gh School and is a graduate of Vogue Beauty College. South Bend. Her husband is a 1962 graduate of Walkerton High School, and presently is attending the South Bend Trade School.
□- - □ DEATHS □ - □ Mrs. Kenneth HoNerread Mrs. Bernice Marie Holderread, 47, of Rt, 2, North Liberty died at 7 p.m. Sat irday in Holy Family Hospital, LaPorte, after an illness of two weeks. Mrs. Holderread was born on Oct. 27, 1917. in St. Jo-eph County, and had lived in the county all her life. On Jan 29, 1938, in LaPorte. she was married as Bernice Walter to Kenneth Holderread, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter. Mrs. Donna Clark. North Manchester; two sons, Lee, attending Ball State Un versity, Muncie, and Ronald, at home; her mother. Mrs. Carrie Walter of North Liberty; three brothers. Wayne of Wanatah; Chester of North Liberty, and Donald of South Bend; and four sisters Mrs. Thelma Ruggles of Hamlet; Mrs. Irma Nelson of North Liberty; Mrs. Edna Downey, of Walkerton, and Mrs. Mai jai't Marquis of West Springfield. Mass Funeral service, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Church of the Brethren. North Lbertv. with Rev. A. P. Wenger, pastor and Rev. Kenneth Murphy, of North Liberty, officiating. Burial was in East lawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Mrs. Holdcrread was a member of the Church of the Brethren. Palmer Funeral Home was m charge of arrangement*. Mrs. Peter Hilt Mrs. Helen Hilt, 50. Rt. 3. Walkerton,, died Wednesday morning. May 12, in St. Luke s Presbyterian hospital, Chicago, following heart surgery. She was bom April 13, 1915. in Evanston. 111. She was married to Peter Hilt, August 7, 1940 in Walkerton. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Susan Felix. Walkerton; a grandchild; t|AO sisters, Mrs. Ruth Anderson. Tucson. Arizona, and Mrs Midge Reynolds. Sacramento, Calif. The rosary was recited in the Nusbaum Funeral Home, Walkerton, at 8 p.m Friday. Funeral services were held at 9 am. Saturday in St Patrick s Catholic CShurch, with Rev. Anthony Letko. pastor officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Walkerton Plans School Closing Activities The Walkerton High School Awards Program will be held on Friday. May 21st, starting at 1:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Baccalaureate will be held Sunday, May 23. in the high school gym, commencing at 7:30 pm. Commencement wip be held Tuesday, May 25th. in the high school gym commencing at 8:00 p.m. James Armstrong will deliver the address. Final exams will be given on Monday and Tuesday. May 24 and 25. with class work closing at regular dismissal on the 25th. Students will report back on Thursday. May 27 at 1.30 to pick up their grade cards.
