Mr. and Mrs. Gus Verkljor. Rt. 1, Walkerton, will celebrate their 80th wedding anniversary Sunday. May 16, at an op' n house in thu Town Club, corner of Washington and Ohio Streets. Walkerton, from two to five o'clock. Mr. and Mrs Verkier (nee, Kellie Stover) were married May 12, 1915, in South Bend in the Unit'd Brethren parsonage. They resided in Chicago for 12 years before moving to their pres, ent farm south of town where they have resided the past 38 years. They have two sons. Richard and James, both of Walkerton, and five grandchildren. Friends and relatives are cordlally invited to attend. sued. Tri Kappa Gives Awards At Elem. Music Festival On May 7th, the Elementary School presented their Spring Music Festival. Grades 1 through 7 participated. The 4th and sth grade chorus and the. 6th and 7th grade chorus sang some selections from "Mary Poppins.” The beginner band and junior band ea« h played several numbers. Mrs. Flcanor Robinson was the director of the vocal part and George Robins on directed the bands. Tri Kappa awards were given at this program. The recipients of the Tri Kappa 7th grade Honor Medals this year were Sandra Morris and Donald Hendricks The winners were chosen using these standards as a baais of judging: 1. Attitude 2. Leadership ability 3. Character 4. School activities 5. Scholarship The six teachers of the departmental section judged the seventh graders using these five standards. * , The school gym was filled to capacity and the program w«« well received.
