An Appeal From The American ' Legion Post 189 With the world affairs being in the turmoil that they are, it is extremely important that we all realize the significance of Memorial Day. Our young men are dying every day in Viet Nam and other hot spots throughout the world. Although this fighting can not be compared in scopu with World War I and 11, it is just as real to those who die and their loved ones. It is our Christian and American obligation to honor those who died fighting for Freedom and Democracy, whether they died 50 years ago or last week One hour a year on Memorial Day is a very small token to give to those that gave their all tor The American Legion Post 189 of Walkerton, requests the cooperation of all the local organizations and the citizens of our town to make this Memorial Dn,y parade the best we have ever had. The parade will be held at 10:30 a m. on Monday, May 31st. so as not to interfere with church attendance on Sunday. The Legion requests that any organization desiring to participate in the parade contact Chuck Roth or Dick Verkler as soon as possible. They also appeal to everyone to fulfill their American obligation by turning out for the parade. N, L. Music Departments To Present Concert The vocal music department of the North Liberty Elementary and High Schools, will pi esent a concert on Friday. May 14. at 7:30 pm. In the high school gym. Students of grades one through four, the sth and 6th grade choir, th, 7th and Bth grade choir, the high school chorus ami the high school glee chib, will be presenting songs on the theme Were Learning to Sing.” Action songs, rounds and songs with instruments will be featured by grades one thru four. St. Patrick School Plans Closing Activities St. Patrick Schtol will dismiss for the summer on Thursday, May 27, it was an lounced at the meeting of the St. Patrick Women's Club Wednesday night at the school hall. The room mothers will entertain on Wednesday. May 26, with the annual picnic for all eight grades. Pop, ice cream and hot dogs will be furnished by tho Women's Club. Commencement date will he May 23 for the graduating eighth graders.
