Shamrocks 2nd In 4-Way Meet New Carlisle easily topped the field in a four-way track meet Tuesday. April 20, at the New Car lisle tr ack, with North Liberty finishing in second place. Three Oaks. Michigan, and Lakeville, finished in that order to round out the field. The Tigers won all but four firsts, including both relays, to finish with 60 pi ints to the Shamrocks 34L in second. Three Oaks totaled 32 and I akevillo 12'-. Knepp was the Shamr<‘k's only first place winner in the shot put. whi\e Lakeville collected one first and Three Oaks two. Lakeville and North Liberty Jr. High track teams engaged in a triangular meet. The Liberty boys won the mt< by compiling 53’2 points; Lakeville. 47'-: and LaPaz had 25. Winning three first places for North Liberty was Ron Young in the 440; the High Jump: and the Pole Vault, setting new North Liberty Jr . High track records in the latter two. In the high jump, Ron leaped 5’ 2“ to better the old record se by Tim Hughes, at. 4' 11 L", in 1961; and he set tho new pole vault record with a vault of 9’ 1". to break the old record set by Kent Naragon. in 1963, at 9' 3”. Dennie Hurt won the hurdle race, while Dale Borton finished in a tin in the 880 yard run. The next meet will be hold on Friday.
