HARPER HOPE Trope is a straw to cling to, something to grasp in the moment of darkest despair. Hope is more than the attitude that “things could be worse,” hope brings the certain belief that thing* will be better But, let us mJ hope too much. Let us not believe that God will hear a prajer and change the world for us. Let us not believe that God is our own persona! God or, more accurately, that he is ours alone. It is far better to ask God for strength to be a better jierson than to ask God to change the world. If we become a better person, our world will become a better world. Hope and faith work hand Inhand If we have faith, we have something stronger than hope; we have the belief that God will give us whatever measure of strength we may need to resist a temptation, to aicept a defeat, to struggle against adversity. Without question there is ono thing of which we may be quite certain. So long as we have faith, we shall nevei be without hope. We know by faith that ue arc in um Father's keeping and, knowing God, we have confidence that we dull not be deserted.
