No. liberty Completes Year With Ninth Win As Concord Falls 14-0
Two Concord fumbles were responsible for both North Liberty touchdowns as the Shamrocks won their ninth game in ten games this year, topping Concord 14-0 at School Field on Tuesday night. Again a good stout defense was as responsible for the win as any factor as they not only held the Minutemen to 110 yards for the game, but scored one of the touchdowns and forced the other fumble and recovered to give the ball to the Shamrocks in Concord territory from where they scored. The only loss of the year was to Jim town in the second game after several key players were knocked out of action by injuries. In this game an end had to come in and play quarterback, due to the loss of the two quarterbacks in the first two games. Also missing at this time were a couple of regulars other than the quarterl>acks with injuries. The Shamrocks scored the first of their two touchdowns shortly after the second quarter had started. Concord was moving in
their own territory with the ball when a fumble was recovered on the Concord 12 yard line by the Shamrocks. This was at the closing end of the first period. Five plays later, with Jack Jackson Hari Shafer and Tim Hughes carrying the* ball, Jackson ran the final 20 yards for the score. Shafer then bolted into the end zone for the extra point and the score was 7-0 with 10:46 to play in the half. Tins was the scoring in the first half as the game was played pretty well in the center of the field. The final touchdown canic in the last quarter with 7 11 to play. This also resulted from a fumble only more direct The Shamrocks the one yard lino before losing the ball on downs. Then on the had moved down the field to first play from scrimmage fol Concord, they tried a pitchout that was fumbled and Shafer race-1 to the ball and recovered in the end zone for the touchdown.
