The two conductresses presented the flowers to the ofticers who pinned them on their friend and introduced them. Mrs. Kenneth Klinedinst sang "Just A Street Where Old Friends Meet." Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Orcutt were the friends in the East and Mr. and Mrs. Robert lady in the West. Other friends were Mrs. Harold Fisher and Mrs. John Bellinger of North liberty; Mrs. Richard Johnson, Plymouth; Mrs. Treva Goppert, of Constantine, Mich.; Mrs. Noel King, Wanatah, and Mrs. Elizabeth Rand, South Bend. Others, all from Walkerton, were: Mrs. Newton Williams, Mrs Mary Bauer. Mrs. Ned Haag, Mrs. Nelson Walz. Mrs. John Peterson, Mrs. George Parks, Mrs. Nellie Purdy, Mrs. Walter Piekavet, Mrs. Minnie Mikesell, and Mrs. Gerald Howard. Worthy Matron. Mrs. Alfred Drews, spoke a verse of Friendship arxl emphasized the im;x»rtan<v of friendship should not be just f<>r today, but for all seasons <>f the year, which was beautifully displayed later in the reception r<x>m. Vouchers were pansy stickers on pink cards. Mr. and Mrs Robert Candler received their white Bibles in a ceremony given by the Bible Degree members. During the social hour, guests four! their places by clever place cards with faces of buttons, bits of felt. net. feathers and paint There were four long tables, each resembling a season of the year. The spring table had tulips. violets and other signs of spring The summer table had a cleverly made sand beach, with pool, bathers and manv miniature characters and symbols The fall table was in season with Indian corn, colored leaves and gourds. The winter acene on the fourth tab’e was n reminder that Christmas and New Years is getting closer A skating scene, greenery,
encrusted with snow, snow balls and New Years and Christmas napkins, were among the decor on that table. The large crowd was greeted as they arrived by Mrs. Gus Verklor, a past matron. Mrs. Robert Sill and Mrs, Walter Jackson and their assistants. Mrs. Orcutt, Mrs. Fiancis Gindeiberger, Mrs. Warner Clark, Mrs. Orville Klinedinst and Miss Audrey Dolph were ix»q>onsible for the beautiful decorations. Hostesses for the dessert refreshments were Mr. and Mrs. Lidy, Mrs. Willard Baker, Mrs. Denslow Doll, Mrs. Clyde Chap- • man aixl Mrs. William Zahrt. Business Women Have Halloween Party The W alkerton Business and Professional Women’s Club met at the American Legion Hall dining room Tuesday evening for their dinner meeting. Thirty members and one guest, Mrs. Betty Godfrey, wer present. Cider was served as the members arrived. Several came masked as requested. and th >se not masked were asked to donate to the treasury’. Mrs. Charles Wooley was given first prize for her bathing costume of long ago. Mrs. Harry Masterman and Mrs John Clkuy, dressed as a couple of fishermen with real live fish were given second prize. Mrs Willard Baker, for her authentic Felix the Cat, costume, received a prize Mrs. Robert Flaugher. club president, read a thought for tN? day, to open the meeting The tables were decorated in the Halloween motif.
