TUESDAY IS NATIONAL ELECTION DAY
Homecoming Program To Begin Thur. For Walkerton High School
Walkerton High School will have their homecoming for 1964 this week with a full slate of activities planned for Thursday and Friday. Activities have already started as many school and outside groups are building floats for the homecoming parade to be held Thursday night. Also, the school groups have decorated many store windows in the business district, adding to the homecoming spirit. The list of activities which will start Thursday are: Thursday noon, judging of the windows in the business district. Thursday, 6:30 p.m., the parade, forming at the high school to U. S. 6 and through the business area to Indiana 23 south; two blocks south to Jackson St., and then right to Ohio St., and down into the park A bonfire and pep rally will be held in the park. A show will then be held for the school students at the Rialto Theatre. Friday 7:30 pm., the football game between Walkerton and North Liberty. At halftime, the winners of the floats ar. 1 window decoration contest will be announced. The candidates for the homecoming queen will be presented and introduced to the crowd. Those selected are: (alphabetically) Caroyn Bedford, Vicki Bullinger, Isaura Divine, Virginia Gilmer and Jeanne Scarbrough. Friday .immediately after the game. Homecoming dance at the Walkerton Elementary school gym. The Chevelles will play for the dance to which all are invited At the dance, the homecoming queen will be announced with her court. A homecoming program such as this takes a lot of preparation and effort It is sponsored by the Walkerton Future Farmers of America chapter with the cooperation of the rest of the school groups. Recognition of the activities by the adults of the community, is a fitting tribute to ahow the school children. Annual Halloween Party For Teens Saturday The annual Halloween Dance for teen agers of this area will be held Saturday night. October 31. at the Walkerton Youth Building, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. This dance will b-- to live music with a 25 cent admission. Re-
New Christmas Decorations Are Planned By Chamber Os Commerce
Christmas Shopping and Christmas Season for the Walkerton choppers and visitors will be brightened this year due to < ompletely n<*w downtown decorations Tins has been made p able by the Walkerton Chamber of Commerce who haxe for almost a year, been l<»oking and inquiring into new decorations for the main street. They will be of a gothic motif in all glittering gold centered with large lighted stars and lighted bells. They are 10’s feet high and will attach to each light pole in the two downtown blocks of Roosevelt Road

North Liberty PTA Carnival Saturday Night There will be witches, goblins and ghosts galore at the annual Halloween Carnival in the North Liberty Elementary gym. The gala evening is sponsored by the North Liberty F»TA and will lx* held next Saturday evening. Octo, her 31st. The affair will start at five o'clock with a delicious sm >rgasbord dinner. The dinner is $1 for adults and 50 cents for children under 12. After the dinner, the carnival will begin, featuring a candy booth, white elephant booth, fish pond, ring the can game, golf putting, nail driving ami weight guessing booth. The costume parade will be at 6:30 o'clock and prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. A dance will be held for the older students at 7:30 in the high school gym, at which the “Twiliters” from Mkeville. will play. There will be fun for all ages fr. m 2 to 82. The expense of the new decorations is being shared jointly by the Town Board and the Chamber of Commerce. All mei chants. industrialists and organizations have been contacted on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce, ami nearly 100 per cent has been subscribed. Plans are currently underway for future seasonal decorations to brighten the shopping atmosphere of downtown Walkerton. It is hoped that these new decorations will help add to the spirit of Christmas and the festivities of the season to all concerned.

Walkerton Groups Plan Halloween Party Saturday The annual Halloween Party for the young children of Walkerton. will be held Saturday night with the usual parade and judging of costumes with refreshments for all participants at the Walkerton Elementary school The festivities again are headed by the Chamber of Commerce with many other groups participating as much as the Chamber Richard Brice is again general chairman and is responsible for organizing the committee of the different representatives. Tho parade will begin at 6:30 from the Post Office lot. The masked characters are to assemble prior to this for the march which will move from the Post Office to Michigan Street, up to Road 6, turn right for two blocks through the business district and then follow Indiana 23 to the Elemntary school building The judging will be done in many different categories at this time aixt refreshments will be served to all the kids Cash prizes are to be given again for the best costumes in the many different classes. Adults Recreation To Begin The North IJberty winter recreation begins this week and provides the following program: Mondays: Adult women 7-9 p.m. in the elementary gym Thursdays: Adult Men — 7-9 p.m. in the high school gym Saturdays: High school boys. 10-12 noon. H. S. gym Elementary boys: 8-10 a.m. in elementary gym Elementary ami Jr. Hi girls. 10-12 in the elem. gym Adult < hoir for anyone in the community interested in singing, will be held on the first Monday and the third Thursday of e;uh month. These groups will meet in tlie elementary music room, beginning Monday, November 2,. from 7 to 9 p m. A minimum attendance is required for the recreation program to continue. Therefore. regular attendance is urged of all interested participants. No foes arc required for any of these programs. Friday Night Is Trick Or Treat Time In Walkerton The Walkerton Town Board has set Friday. October 30. as the Trick or Treat night in Walkerton. This has beer.* done in previous years to make it much safer for the little ones who are out in their Halloween costumes at this time. The Saturday evening program has been planned again with a parade a t this time, thus making the Trick or Treating unnecessary on Saturday night. Most people will have their porch lights on on Friday to aid the youngsters in their annual fun.
