The Boys Need Your Support

A very interesting program was set for the people of Walkerton last Friday night, as the football coaches held a public practice. The idea of the practice wa- not a hard workout for the boys, but to instruct the public in some of the finer points of the game. After a brief introduction, a player was dressed in his full equipment before the group, to show what protection is afforded a boy in the hard-hitting contact sport. Then the fundamentals of blocking and tackling was displayed. showing the proper and improper way for this to be done. Fundamentals of the offense and defense were then shown, pointing out the things for thd fans who do not know football to look for. and each position was named and briefly their duties exp’ained. of the summer vacation season as the families have to head fur home to get the children back in school. This makes the traltic extremely hr.ivy and last year a total of 23 accident fatalities were iecorded in Indiana during this period. It has been announced that extra patrols are going to be put on the highways with assistance from air patrols for this period in key points around the state. The time worn phrase still means a lot if people would only heed it. Be Careful.

stage in Walkerton and North Liberty and it needs support. E en the large schools around have booster chibs as does North Liberty with their Football Boosters and Walkerton with their Athletic 800-ters. A good share of the program depends on the fans' support. Football is the sport which can use a large number of boys. Your support is needed to give these boys encouragement and get as many boy? active in this and other sports as well. Over the years, you will still find that the boys who are active in sports like this, or other activities such as 4-H and FFA, are the one? that stay out of trouble. It is the same as at home, help is needed for the kids in their growing years. The rewards are reaped by all. but especially the kids themselves.
