N.F.O. NEWS The president of the National Fanners Organization, (NFO) Oren Lee Staley, said la. t Friday "Enthusiasm is high and determination build ng" for the group's market rebellion. When a meat act on is called, there are a few things you can expect to happen. First, as far as cattle are concerned, there are many captive sellers. By captive seller-:, we mean feeders who farmers think own their own cattle. but really the cattle are owned by someone else. In many cases, these cattle are really owned by packers and chain stores and are to be delivered o»i call. We also learned that other .socalled farm organization* on last Tuesday and Wednesday, had cooperating organized selling day’s. This puts all these groups on the side of those want ng to keep the farmers prices low. There are two other categories of farmers amt feeders who sell in a holding action. There are some who are financially caught in a bind and must sell, and then there are the opportunists. The opportunists have no regard foi their neighbor or anyone else but themselves. *\nd they will take advantage of the effort? of others. because they arc selfish and greedy by nature. They know very well that the only reason they are getting a higher price is because of NFO's effort, but they

are blind to the objectives of the NFO. The main objective is a twelve month's contract. We must tabilize prices if American farmers are to survive. Sure, there will always be farms. But they will be corporation owned and controlled, and you an<| I will be hind men to <io this job of feeding the people of this great country and countries all over the world. Since the holding action stalled and the week previous when farmers were diligently contacting our neighbors, we have been signing memberships to thousands of fellow farmers. We also wiA to tliank every member and non-member fur helping us close the bam yard gates until such a time when we can activate our contracts. Remember, we are getting th*’ job done! Don’t let anyone "bram wash" you into thinking any different! N. L.
