Mrs. Gertrude Wolfe of South Bend was in Walkerton last Friday on business and calling on friends. Mrs. Loren Knowlton of North Liberty and Mrs. Dora Knowlton were dinner and supper guests last Wednesday of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Knowlton and son. Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Petry of Hoopeston, 111., and Miss Georgia Lou Petry of Pittsburgh, Pa., are visiting Dr. and Mrs. G. R. Hershberger and family, this week. Mrs. Mahlon Jacob and children Jennifer and Jeff, spent last week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Jacob and family in Wolcottville. They were week end guests of Mrs. Jacob’s step-mother, Mrs. Stella Pike, at Hudson, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Frailey entertained with Sunday dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Walter Baker and Pat. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Baker of North Liberty, and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Rans and famCol. and Mrs. Fletcher Jaquess of Evansville. Indiana, were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Newton Williams. The Williams and their house guests were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hannagen at Koontz Lake Sunday, jly, Bremen. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Beaty returned to New York from their trip to the Holy I^ands on August 6th and spent the week end in Ohio at the home of Mrs. Beaty's mother, Mrs. Stella Campbell of Belle Center. On Saturday they were joined by their daughters, Mrs. Richard Roberts and children, of Canoga Park, Calif., Mrs. Lloyd Freeland and son, Kent, of Las Cruces,* New Mexico, and Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Cole and son, Robert, of Walkerton, for the Greentree reuinon on Sunday. Mr. Beaty returned to Walkerton Sunday evening with the Coles while the rest of the family remained for Mrs. Campbell’s birthday anniversary on Tuesday, after which they retruned to Walkerton. Saturday evening the family celebrated the birthday of Billie Roberts with a picnic supper at the home of Mrs. Edgar Cole and son. Robert, The past week has been a very busy but pleasant one with much of the time being spent on viewing- and discussing some of the pictures taken in the Holy Lafds.

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Frailey and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Baker, were Friday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Baker and family. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Osborne and sons of Riverside. California, and Mr. and Mrs. Milt Brown and family of Kokomo, have been visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Seitz, the past two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Wilder Burnside, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Baumgartner and Mr. and Mrs. John Augsburger of Milford, spent two weeks at Perrault Falls, Ontario, Canada, on a fishing trip. Mr. and Mrs. James Verkier and family returned from a two weeks vacation through the east. While in New York, they visited the World's Fair, Statue of Liberty and toured Manhattan, and other scenic spots. Enroute home they came thru Canada and spent several days at Niagara Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Stickley and daughters have returned home from visiting relatives in and near Tioga, the Oil Well Center of North Dakota. They stopped off at Hayward, Wisconsin where they met Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Stickley a. d family of South Bend and enjoyed a week of fishing and relaxing. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Minter and family spent last week visiting the latter's son. Robert Myers who is in the Air Force in Beloxi. Miss. Enroute home they stopped in Bloomington to visit her daughter, Sally Myers who is a senior at Indiana University. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Jim Minter and family, and Mr, and Mrs. Kenneth Minter and family in Rensselaer before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kattau and children of Patchogue, New York, spent a week visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hostetler and other relatives and friends. The Kat tails just returned from a 10.000 mile trip touring the west. Sunday a gathering of the Dora Knowlton families was held at Lake of the Woods with about seventy present in their honor. Mrs. Lloyd Freeland of New Mexico, and Mrs. Richard Roberts of California, were guests of honor Wednesday evening when Mrs. Warner Clark entertained informally for some members of the Yorktown Home Demonstration Club and high school classmates of Mrs. Roberts. All enjoyed an evening of icin'njscing of the past when they were all in Walkerton.

Schultz were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schultz and family of South Bend, Mr, and Mrs. Melvin Divine, Mr. and Mrs. James Patterson and Mrs. Fred Wolff. Sunday afternoon callers in the Leonard Beaty home were Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Roy Hahn and children and Mr. and Mrs. James Farrer and grandchildren of Bremen who came to see their cousins from the west. Mrs. Robert Reeder was a dinner guest of the B« atys and their children. Mrs. George Ferverda, Koontz L: ke, entertained with a one o’clock luncheon Wednesday, Aug:t 12, honoring Mrs. Clyde R ketts of West Covina, California. who is visiting friends here. Other guests were Mrs. Robert Sills, Mrs. Ben Brede, Mrs. Gus Ve* kier and Mrs. Newton Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Huhnke surprised Mr. and Mrs. Albert Huhnke Sr., by arriving from California Friday night. Saturday evening a pot luck supper was hr Id for all of the Albert Huhnke children and grandchildren. Dr. and Mrs. V. B. Wolfe of Sebring, Florida, are house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Walz. Mrs. Charles Martin, Walkerton, and Mrs, Tom Ball, Cindy, Susan, Brenda, Terrie, Laurie and Mary, of Logansport, visited Mrs. John Six and Mrs. Harold Hanson, Edward, John and Scott, Thursday. Mrs. Lloyd Freeland and son, Kent, of Lis Cruces, New Mexico, were guests of their aunt, Mrs. Russell Barnes on Saturday for lunch. On Friday evening they were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jackson and children. They also called on friends in LaPorte and Lydick where they had 11. ed before moving to New Mexico. Miss Ethel Bierly attended the Public School Librarian Workshop August 10 to 14, at the State Library, Indianapolis. It was the first one under the direction of the State Public School Librarian, Miss Georgia Goodwin. One hundred forty librarians attended. Saturday evening supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Smith and Jimmy were Mr. and Mrs. Allen Stoneburner of Rock Island, 111. Mr. and Mrs. Leßoy Stoneburner of Rock Island were Sunday afternoon callers. Monday guests were Mr. and Mrs. Neal Nash of Warsaw. Miss Edith Beall and Walter Beall of Stevensville, Michigan, and Miss Helen Nash of LouisMr. and Mrs. Robert Gardner and sons spent the week end in Indianapolis visiting Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Eib and family. Sunday, they were guests at a party given by Chester Kubit, who was entertaining teachers and their families who taught in the Walkerton school when he was on the Walkerton faculty. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kickbush were also guests. There were over fifty present.
Mrs. Ruth Gordon and son, Phil, of Churubusco, were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Imbro and family of South Bend were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Betz and family. Mrs. Clyde Ricketts, of West Covina, California, left Monday for Pittsfield, Mass, for a visit with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ricketts, before returning to California for the winter. Mrs. Alice Millard received word of the death of her brother, George Lambert, of Manchester, Washington. Mr. Lambert passed away at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday in Harrison hospital, Brementon, Washington.
