E — Q DEATHS D - □ Martin OustaAe Ivan Melhn Martin Gusta.e Ivan Meliin. 70, of 611 Washington St, Wa'kertun, died at I V* Pru T uesday in Holy Family hospital, LaPorte, following an illness of five weeks. He was born November 11, 1893, al Norkoping. Sweden, and came t ■ Walkerton 52 years ago as a glass cutter, living eight of those years in Gas City, Ind. He marl ed Ethel T. McDaniel on May 15, 1917 in South Bend. Surviving are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. iris Jones. Walkerton; two sons. David M Mellin. Walkerton, and Robert D. Mellin. Westfield, New Jersey; eleven grandchildren; one s.ster. Mrs. Iris Applequist; three brothers, Lolle Mellin, Ville Mellin and Vicke Mellin all of Sweden. Mr. Mellin was owner of the Mellin grocery store in Walkerton f >r 25 years a.nd has been employed by the Town of Walkerton as Police Radio dispatcher. He was a r ember and past master of Gas City Lodge No. 6-15 F. & A.M., South Bend Consistory. St. Joseph County Scottish Rite Club, past president of the Walkerton School Board, and past president of the V. alkerton Chamber of Commerce. Friends may call after 2:00 pm. Thursday until 12:00 noon Friday at the Nusbaum Funeral Home, and from 1:00 until 2:00 fm. Friday at the Walkerton Trsebyterian church where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Bev. David Owen, pastor of the church, officiating, assisted by Bev. Harold Williams pastor of tie Walkerton Methodist church. Maybelle; his mother, Mrs. Della Chapman, Walkerton; a brother Clyde, Walkertun; a sister. Mis. Gladys Simonton, LaPorte. After Wednesday evening, the body will he in state at the Kosanke Brothers Funeral Home, in Kouts, where friends may call. Burial will lie held Friday morning at 10:00 a m. in the Catholic Church. LaCrosse, Ind. Merchants To Have “Back To School Days” The Walkerton Retail Merchants are having their annual "Back To School Days” sale this Friday and Saturday. Many of the merchants will be offering back to school specials along with storewide savings for your shopping convenience. Several of the stores will also have sidewalk items available for your easy shopping convenience. MAPLE GROVE The MYF of the Maple Grove Church will have an ice cream social Saturday evening at the church. The WSCS and their families will go to Humbard Hill Park and Museum at Elkhart. Indiana. Francis Myers spent the week end With his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Schopp and son of Dayton. Ohio, spent Sunday night, at the Harold Gever home. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Geyer returned home from the Weslevan Methodist Conference at Fairmount Camp Ground Saturday.
