(WALKERTON) Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Houser over the Fourth of July were Mrs. Cora Burch, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Burch, and Miss Shirley Marquis of South Bend; Mr. and Mrs. Keith Kelver and family, Plymouth; Dr. and Mrs. Welcome Miller and family, of LaPorte. Shirley remained for this week and is visiting in the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Houser,, also the Louis Housers. i Sunday, a cook out was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Julian Kerchaert and Tom. in honor of Mrs. Kerchaert’s birthday. Present were the Bill Ochs family, the Ward Ruff family, Mr. and Mrs. William Heim Jr. and sons, Mrs. Roger Spier and daughter, all of Walkerton; Mr. and Mrs. John Heim Sr„ Mrs. G. W. Heim, the Richard Heim Sr. family, and Duff Hevel, all of North Liberty; Mr. and Mrs. Jon Kincaid and daughter of South Bend, and Mr. and Mrs. William Baughman of Tyner. Thomas G. Mr. and Mrs. Robert King and sons spent July 4th at Dewart Lake with Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Eaton and family. Jackson Davis of Shreveport, La., spent the week end in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hiler and family. Mr. Davis is a student, at Notre Dame. 1 Sunday afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gorsline were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Enfield and Mrs. Raymond Cain and children of South Bend. Miss Deanne Mechling, of Wjashington, D. C., spent the holiday week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Meehling, and family, Dr. and Mrs. B. L. Furst and family were in Morocco last week where they were called on account of the death of Mrs. Fursts father, John Merchant. Funeral services were held on Sunday. Miss Carolyn Cohee of North Liberty is spending two weeks with her sister, Mrs. James Bolze, while Mr. Bolze is away for Army training at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. < Fourth of July guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Biedy were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hesterman of Munster, Mr. and Mrs. John Eckstein, and Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Eckstein and daughters of Lansing, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Euler and son of LaPorte, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Eckstein es Hanna. । Mr. and Mrs. Robert King and sons attended festivities July 3rd and sth at Winamac where the 25th Winamac Old Band Reunion was held. Former band members from various schools in the county become members of the “Old Band" after they graduate from high school. A large number still play instniments altho they are in their 60's or 70’s. The highlight of the silver anniversary was an unrehearsed concert in the Winamac Park Sunday afternoon. The member who came the greatest distance was from West Virginia.
Mr. and Mrs. James Battistoni and children spent several days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Erville Kaercher. Mrs. Wallace Parish of Ogden, Utah, spent two weeks here with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Grote. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Taylor and sons, Tim and Jeff, of Elkhart, were Saturday guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Wathen and Todd. i Mr. and Mrs. Arthur DeMyer and son, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hostetter returned Sunday from a ten day vacation in Backus, Minnesota, on a fishing trip. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Ward of Chicago, were guests over Sunday night and Monday of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gardner and sons, Tim and Terry. Mr. Ward is the third baseman for the Chicago White Sox baseball team. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Kennedy, accompanied by Michael Flaugher, spent Wednesday and Thursday in Indianapolis. Wednesday evening, they viewed the annual fireworks display at the Butter Row I sponsored by the Sahara Grotto of Indianapolis. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Koppenhofer Sr., of Grovertown entertained at a four o’clock dinner Sunday in honor of the birthday of Mrs. Jack Hannagen. Other guests were Mr. Hannagen, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schaunamann, Hollywood, Florida; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Greinig, Addison, HL; Mr. and Mrs. Newton Williams and Mrs. Ben Brede of Walkerton. Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Jacob, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Jacob and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Jacob and family, all of Angola, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tubergan and family of Wolcottville, and Mr. and Mrs. Woody Darron and family, of Jackson, Michigan, were guests over the 4th of July week end of Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Jacob and family. Kathy Darron, daughter of the Woody Darrons, remained to spend the week with her cousins, Jennifer and Jeff.
