Mr. and Mrs Robert Cripe and granddaughter Sharon Zart. of Gary, were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Simpkins. 1/Sgt. and Mrs. Garry Trommel returned to Fort Dix. N.J after spending the past week as guests of Mrs. Trommel’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Wertenberg. Mrs. Sarah Helton and daughter Thelma, of Terre Haute, returned home after spending several days as guests of Mr and Mrs. Clarence Reid. The regular monthly meeth g of the Koontz Lake-Oregon Township Fire Department will be held Monday, July 6th, at their fire station, and members are urged to be present. Mr. and Mrs. Oren Duthie returned home after spending several days in Iron Mountain, Michigan as guests of Mr. and Mrs Herbert Carlson, sister send broth-er-in-law of Mrs. Duthie. Mr. and Mis. E. W. Amick entertained Betty Simms and Ruth Wilkie of Chicago, over the week end. ( We regret to report the passing of Mi's, Eva Barrett. 68. who died suddenly early Sunday morning in her home. Mrs. Barrett is being waked in Palmer Funeral Home North Liberty, with services in St. Patricks Church. Walkerton, at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Interment in St. Joseph cemetery, Mishawaka. Mrs. Barrett is survived by her husband Edward: a daughter. Mrs. E v telle Etherington. North Liberty; two grandsons, and one great grandson; al~o two sisters. Mrs. Arthur Co-s. Koontz Lake; and Mrs. Harriett Taylor, Ijogansport; and one brother, Charles R. Bird. Mishawaka. The Barretts have maintained a cottage at the lake for many years and resided here permanently for the past ten years. Mrs. Barrett has been very’ active in organizations and her many friends mourn her passing. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Gibbons and children, of Markham. 111., were guests of Mrs. Edna Childress on Sunday. For this week Mrs. Childress is entertaining her grandson, Michael Ursetto and his friend, Michael Lynch, of goMr. and Mrs. William Kuhlwein are spending two days this week in Buchanan. Chicago, were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Smith. Mrw. Joseph Wagner Sr., and son Wayne, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wagner Jr., and Geri Jp, of Chicago, were Saturday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Waranowski. George Downs was a surgery patient the past week in Dyer. Mr. and Mrs. Ix-onard Fries, daughter Margie and son Bobbie, of Tinley Park. 111., stopped over Sunday, enroute to Pottsville, Pa., with Mr, and Mrs. Harry L. Fries. There will be no pot luck suppe- Saturday. July I th. at the Conservation Club House. For the balance of Saturday’s in July, Mrs. Stanley Chudy, assisted by Mi's. William Simpkins, are hostesses for the suppers. There will be seven motor boat races on Sunday. July sth, starting at 1:30 p.m. from the beach of the former Anderson Hotel. Trophies will be awarded to all winners and anyone desiring to participate in the races must register by noon Saturday, July 4, at Stanley’s Marine Sendee. Refreshments aje available on the grounds., Phe monthly meeting of the Koontz Lake-Oregan Township Fire Auxiliary will be held Wednesday, July Bth. with Mrs. Linder Pearish and Mrs. Paul Pearish hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hannagen etertained Mr. and Mrs. Al I^eLonde, of Manistee, Michigan, for several day’s. On Sunday, the Hannegans had as guests Mr. and Mrs. Fred Koppenhofer of Gro vertown. Mr. and Mrs. Clare Farnham announce a new granddaughter in the family. She was born in Holy Family hospital. LaPorte, and the parents are Mr. and Mrs Ijarry Lung who are spending the summer with the Farnhams. Leonard Larson, Chicago, who spends his week ends at his summer cottage here, caught a 14 pound Northern, 37 inches long on a 6 pound test line in Koontz Inke. Mr. I^arson plans to have the fish mounted. Mr. and Mrs. Earhart Hacker returned from their winter home in St. Petersburg. Fla. Due to illness of Mr. Hacker this spring, their return trip was detained for several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. John Smith were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Germain. They also attended the reception in the evening at the Armory. / The Modem Mothers Home Economics Club held their monthly meeting Monday, June 29th. with Mrs. James Clark, vice-president, presiding. Plan.-? were completed for exhibits at the 4-H Fair in Hamlet in July and a report given on home makers conference at Purdue. A silent auction will b< held at the August meeting and plans made for a family picnic on Sunday. August 16, in the park at Michigan City. An invitation Was extended to the San Pierre Club for their September meeting. Prizes were won by Mrs. Walter .Nibbling and Mrs. Jerome Howard. Mrs. Liverne Young was hostess.
