Those from a distance were Mrs. Julia Holdeman •nd Mrs. Ruth Budd and sons from Glendale, Calif. The reunion will be held at the same time •nd place in 1965. 1 ’ 4-H NEWS Carole Tuttle, daughter of Mr. •rd Mrs. Stanley Tuttle, returned Fridav from the Indiana State 4-H Junior Leader Conference, held at the new 4-H Training Center. Lafayette, Indiana. Carole represented Walkerton and was sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Bouth Bend. Camp Darden Has 50 Children In First Period Fifty children from twenty-one •chools in the county entered Camp Darden Monday for a fourW&ek camping period. The chiliren were checked in at the St. Joseph County Tuberculosis League before going out to camp. A dailv schedule planned to improve the physical condition of Hie campers and at the same time •How for a varied program of eamn activities, was started on Btonday.
Tioke Girl Scouts The Tioake Girl Scout Day Camp, held at Stuntz Pine Forest, was well attended. There were 84 Girls Scouts and Brownies registered and 61 completed the two week period with perfect attendance. We had adequate staff this year also. Overnight camping was enjoyed by 29 girls. An impressive program was held Thursday evening after the parents visited the units to see the crafts made by the girls. The theme for the program was “A Day in Camp,'’ narrated by Jan Busaie. The girls pitched a tent, demonstrated lashing a tripod and towel rack. The Brownies laid a camp fire to demonstrate the skill of fire building and outdoor cooking. The fire was lit with a flaming torch in the spirit of Scouting. Ten girls then lit small fires around the circle as they recited the laws as a part of a Scout’s Omen. The program was ended with a flag

ceremony and “Taps” was played. Perfect attenance awards were given, and Mrs. Lee, the director, presented each staff membeer a gift. Mrs. Lee received a gift from the staff. A Girl Scout statue in bronze, was presented to Mr. Stuntz. Camp director was Mrs. James Lee, vith Mrs. Ruth DeSimone as general chairman. Other staff members were: Mrs. George Parks, Mrs. Casimer Stasko, Mrs. Jan Bussie. Mrs. Viola Boone, Mrs. Ralph Wilson, Mi's. Pat Cook, Mrs. Bill Willie, and Mrs. Charlene Jensen. Twenty-one women assisted these people as co-lead-ers. , Stringtown Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Millar of McAllister, Okla., who have been guests in the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Carlson the past two weeks, left Sunday for Canton, 111., where they will visit another daughter
and family before returning to their home. • Lewis Jackson remains the came in Memorial hospital. Roger and Caroline Stull are recovering from having their tonsils removed last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Knepp spent the week end with their son, Mrs. and Mrs. Loren Knepp in Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sheneman received a phone call Saturday from their son, Dennis, that he would fly home to spend the 4th of July with them. FINCH-REAMER REUNION The 24th annual reunion of the Finch-Reamer families was held last Sunday, June 28, at the farm residence of Mr. and Mrs. EarJ Eldred, North Liberty. A good attendance and an aboundant pot luck dinner helped make* an enjoyable day. Games, contests and visiting comprised the entertainment. For traveling the greatest distance, an award was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schreeves, of Maryland; oldest present, Earl Eldred; yertmgest, Billy Clarke. The following officers were elected: Richard Eldred, president; Daniel Eldred, vice president; and Marjorie Clarke, sec-retary-treasurer. The 25th reunion will be held June 27, 1965, at the Wendell Eldred home, South Bend, j The fellow who throws bouquets at himself finds he’s the world’s worst marksman.
