Introduce New 4-H Leader In Walkerton The Introduction of the new 4-H leader here highlighted the 4-H meeting Thursday night at the high school. He is Thomss Welch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Noble Welch, of Union Milla. Welch is a June gmduate of Purdue University and will-be the vocational agricultural teacher at the high school and the eighth grade science teacher, Mr. Welch replaces Harold Matteson who left this week for Wisconsin where he has been granted a research scholarship at the University of Wisconsin. He wW also wook tor his doctorate in agricultural education. Matteson was feted at a hootenanny Wednesday night by his Future Fanners of America boys who presented him with a gold engraved watch. The FFA officers were installed at that meeting as follows George King, president; Ronnie Bellinger, vice president: Bob Meehl mg. secretary; I jury Kaser, treasurer; Mike R xsa. reporter; Ekin Swanson, sentinal; and Allen Schnieltz. parliamentarian. Walkerton Rainbow Hosts Grand Inspection Walkeiton Rainbow Assembly No. 64. Order of Rainbw for Girls, were hostesses for Grand Inspection of their assembly and of Knox and IjaPorte. Saturday, June 13, A smorgasbord luncheon was served at noon by members of Walkerton Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. The dining room was decorated with American Flags. TWe serving table was centered with a gold croee. in front of which stood two crossed flags. A shield was suspended above the table with the words "One Nation Under God” inscribed on it. The inspection opened at one o’clock with the Walkerton girls in charge of the opening. Miss Carol Mann, acting as Worthy Advisor, introduced the following guests: Mrs. Gertrude Kross, acting Supreme Inspector of Laporte; Alfred Drews, Grand Lecturer, District 1. of Walkerton; Mrs. Drews, Grand Chairman District 1; Miss Barbara Lidy, Grand American Flag Bearer, Walkerton; Miss J>y Klampe, Grand Representative to Alabama, of Knox: and the following worthy advisors: Peggy Moore. Knox; Carol Thate. LaPorte. Laura Jo Thornburg. Walkerton; Janet Ed-

ington. LaPorte. Mother Advisors introduced were: Mrs. Ida Klampe. Knox; Mrs. Eleanor Eady, Associate Mother Advisor, LaPorte; Mrs. Marge Johnson, North Judson; Mrs. Jack Easterday, Culver; and Mrs. Robert Lidy, Walkerton. Initiation for four candidates was given by the LaPorte officers under the direction of Janet Edington. Miss Linda Boose, erf Walkerton, and Donna Fisher, Donna Nordstrom, and Linda Johnson, all of I^aPorte, were the candidates. Red Sox Drop 2nd League Tilt The Walkerton Red Sox fell to North Liberty Thursday night in the A-l Mishawaka League by an 8-0 score. A home run by Stan Schlemmer in the first inning u’as all Don Phillips needed as the Red Sox weren't able to collect many lilts, getting three in all. The rest of the runs came late in the game as a couple of bad plays and several hits off Codge Hamess netted five in the sixth

and two in the seventh for the final score. The Red Sox play at Dodge Park Thursday in another league game against Madison Township. A double header is planned for Sunday night at the local park with an opponent not yet known. Rain curtailed the other action this past week.
