M Thornburg, Rt. 3, Walkerton, was Installed as Worthy Advisor of Walkerton Assembly No. 64. International Order of Rainbow for Girls, Friday evening in the Masonio Temple. A bouquet of vari-clored pink ther Advisor of North Liberty; Mr. Wolf and Miss Julie Lemert, past worthy advisor of North Liberty and present Grand Ambassaor of Goodwill. Mias Martha Wolf, past worthy advisor of Plymouth Assembly and past Grand Ambassador of Goodwill, was escorted to the east thru an aisle made by six girls holding pink roses aloft, where she was introduced as the installing officer by Mrs. Lidy. Mr. and Mrs. Thornburg were carnations was on the white satin draped pedestal in the East. A pink edged white cross was placed in front of the dais. Crossed gavels of pink styrofoam decorated the associate advisor’s station, a pink heart and an anchor were on the Charity and Hope pedestals, respectively. Mias Thornburg’s motto “Love is the Light of Happiness” was on the back drop in the east. Her watchwords "Kindness an Gentleness” was in the west. Her chosen colors were carnation pink and silver, and her flower, carnation. Mrs. Robert Lidy, Mother Advisor, gave a welcome and introduced guests seated In. the east: Alfred Drews, Grand phairman district 1; Mrs. Drews, Grand Organiser district 1; Mrs. Quin Chaney. Plymouth'; and "Pop” Robert Lidy. Others introduced were Mrs. John McCombs, district 1 choir mom; Mrs. Fred Wolf, Mother Advisor of Plymuth As-
sembly; Mrs. James Wolf, Moescorted to the east, introduced by their daughter, and were asked to turn toward the west as the soloist sang "An Old Fashioned Garden" to Mrs. Thornburg. Laura Jo presented her mother with a bouquet of red roses as she spoke a poem of devotion. Mr. Thornburg’s song was “Oh Papa” follower! by a clever poem "What Would You Take For Me?" spoke by his daughter as she handed him a gift. Miss Carol Mann presented the Assembly worthy advisor's pin to Laura Jo,, who in turn gave her a past advisor pin. Laura Jo conducted Miss Mann to the stations of Faith, Hope, Charity, and associate advisor where she was given gifts. She was taken to the altar where she signed the Bible while the soloist sang "Somebody Bigger than you or I.” Pop Lidy was given a large badge, inscribed with “Rainbow Pop" by Laura Jo. Following the introduction of her family and thanking all who had made her evening so pleasant, Miss Thornburg invited all to the reception after the closing. John McCombs gave the benediction. Refreshments of cookies, punch, coffee, nuts and mints were served from a pretty table covered with white accented by a pink ruffle flounce. Pink and silver tapers with pink carnations at the bases were placed along the center of tables. c The committee in charge of the refreshments were Mrs. Edward Petersen. Tri Kappa Holds Initiation For New Members The Epsilon Chi Chapter of Tri Kappa met Thursday evening, June I, at the Methodist Church, for an initiation service for Mrs. Richard Masterman and Mrs. Kenneth Klinedinst. The new members were guests of honor at a dinner held at Heil’s Dining Room. The tables were decorated with a centerpiece of lavender and white mums and at each place, for favors, was a cake of soap decorated like small little jewel boxes, topped with a flower. Following the dinner, the business meeting was held. Mrs. John Powell, chairman of the scholarship committee, announced the following winners for the Tri Kappa Scholarship and Tri Kappa Honor awards: Senior, Miss Edna Jean Fry, who will attend Ball State Teachers College in Muncie this fall. 7th grade students at Walkerton Elementary School were: Janice Hartsough and John Vandall. Those receiving awards at St. Patricks School were: Jane Powell and William Zlatos Thursday, July 9, 10 t 11:30 a. m., the Tri Kappas will have a coffee at the home of Mrs. Donald Wray. This will be the meeting in which the new officers will appoint their committees for the 1964-65 season, starting in September. An election of officers was held with the following results: president, Mrs. Stanley Orcutt; vicepresident, Mrs. Bryce Rohrer; recording secretary, Mrs. G. R. Hershberger: corresponding secretary. Mrs. Donald Wray; treasurer, Miss Susan Burch.
