Other organizations of which he was a member were: Knight Templars of Gary, South Bend Consistory, Gary Elks Lodge, and the Fraternal Order of Police, Gary. He served in many capacities in the Gary’ Police Dept until his retirement some years ago. It was my privilege to minister to Mr. McCarty for many years, but I became more intimately acquainted with him during his long illness. He had a deep faith in spiritual things of life, evidenced when wo shared the Lord* Supper four times a year. He had an abiding faith in his fellow man and in the promises of his God. He said one time that he received a great heritage and with God’s help hoped to live up to it that it might live on for posterity, "A Good Name." “America’s future will be determined by the home and the school.” Upon the experience of others. you can determine the ability of an organization. Those we have served will tell you of our sincerity of purpose.
