Phil N. Eskew To Speak fit North Liberty Commencement June 3
Phil N Eskew. commissioner of the Indiana High School Athletic Association, will deliver Ihe commencement address to 13 gradunting seniors Tuesday at the North Liberty High School gym. His homespun Hoosier philosophy combines fun. horse-sense and entertainment. but always leaves some wholesome philosophy with his listeners. This approach has made him a most sought after speaker in Indiana circles. His talks have been heard by nor one-half million people throughout the middle west. Eskew was born and raised in southern Indiana. He has earned B S and M S. degrees and an honorary L L D. degree at several Indiana colleges and universities while studying law and education. His exerience includes working at many trades while getting his education, teaching positions and serving as coach, athletic official. dean of boys. principal and superintendet of school in various sections of Indiana. The closing exercises will begin with the Baccalaureate Service Sunday afterm >n. May 31. at 2:30. Rev. Kent Bennett, of the County Line Brethren Church, will deliver the address. This program had formerly been held in the evening. but to be consistent with the other South Bend Community Schools, the time has been changed to afternoon. Addresses will be given by Joanne Eberly. Valedictorian, and Janet McEndarfer, SaJutatorian. Awards will be made for Citizenship. Scholarship, and for perfect attendane. There will also be awards for the top scholarr in each department as well as a number of individual awards. These will be presented by teachers of the subjects and the Home Room Teachers. There will also be Certificates of Scholarship for College presented to deserving seniors. All parents and patrons of the school are urged to attend. The public Is invited. A golden ring of corn bread filled to brimful with creamy chicken, olives and peas needs only a fresh fruit accompaniment for supper on the porch. And it’s so easily made with corn niutlin mix! CORN BREAD RING M ITU CREAMED CHICKEN Makis 6 tcrvitigt Corn Bread Ring: 1 8 teaspoon white pepper One 12-oz. pkg. Flako 2 cups milk Corn Muslin Mix 2 cups diced cooked J chicken 2/3 cup milk 1 cup drained cooked peas Creamed ( hicken: 12 pitted ripe olives, 1/4 cup butter or margarine sliced 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon chopped 1 teaspoon salt piiniento Heat oven to hot (400°F.). Empty corn muslin mix into bowl; add < gg r and milk. Blend only until dry ingredients are thoroughly u.oistemd. (Batter should be slightly lumpy.) Pour batter into rieased l-I/2-qt. ring mold. Bake in preheated oven (40u F.) about 20 minutes or until golden brown. While coin bread is baking, prepare creamed chicken. Melt butter in medium sized saucepan. Stir in flour, salt and japper until .th. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until mixture thmkens. Aid remaining ingredients; heat thoroughly. Turn corn bread ring out onto serving platter. Fill center of ;.g with hot creamed chicken. Garnish with parsley if desired, i v< immediately.
