Lo lise Salmans of Walkerton. The regular monthly meeting of the Koontz Like Oregon Township Fire Department will be held Monday. June 1. at the Fire Station All members are urged to be present. A meeting of commit toe memters of Troop 37 Boy Scouts, will be hel l Tuesday evening at 7:30 pm., at the home of Edward Barbknecht. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Smillie returned home after spending several davs traveling in the Smoky Mountains and several adjacent states. Saturday. May 30, is a holiday and to moke it a real one, you won t need to cook dinner that day. The Koontz Lake Conservation Club will sponsor a complete chicken dinner on Saturday, at their club house, and serving will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p m. and the public is urged to attend. Mr. and Mrs. James Maze and Mrs. Mardene Collins and children. of Plymouth, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Scott. Mr. and Mrs. George Germain of Chicago, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Germain on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Phillips, of Three Rivers. Michigan, were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Simpkins. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Martin spent three days in Indianapolis attending a convention and visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Pollard. The Koontz Lake-Oregon Township Fire Auxiliary held the May meeting last week with 14 members and three guests present. Guests were Mrs. Bess Ferverda. Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson and Mrs. Virginia Bowmar. Happy Birthday was sung to Mrs. Hortense Moorman and Mrs. Phyllis Cain. Card playing was enjoyed during the social hour with table prizes to the highest and lowest scores. Each guest also received a prize and Mrs. Frances Koch received the attendance prize. Refresh-
ments were served by Mrs. Dorothy Green, Mrs. Sigrid Duthie, Mrs. Marge Money and Mrs. Arlene Adams. The Auxiliary will sponsor a bake sale in the fire station on Saturday, June 20th, starting at 10 a m. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Ixmz and Judy and David, spent Sunday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to attend the graduation of their son, Frank, from St. Francis Seminary. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Amick accompanied by Mrs. Leet a Erdal, returned home Saturday after spending the past week touring the Smokies and visiting states of Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky. This week the Amicks are entertaining Mr. and Orville Devlin, of Evansville, Wis. The Starke County Conservation Council held their monthly meeting at Toto last week with the eight clubs represented. Committees for the annual 4-H Fair in Hamlet during the last week of July have been appointed by the clubs and are proceeding with arrangements. It is expected each club will have their exhibits for display in Council building for the Fair. A new club was welcomed into the Council, Starke Associated Marksmen. Our treasury reports a balance of $352 98. The Council will have a fish pond exhibit at the Knox street fair in July as well as at the 4-H Fair in Hamlet. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Blackburn and children, of Chicago, spent the week end as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Waranowski. Mrs. Jessie Hunter, of Morocco, will spend this week as gueit of her daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Brown and daughters. Scoutmaster Art Borrelli. Assistant Scoutmaster Ted Cain, accompanied by 13 boys of Troop 37. spent Friday and Saturday evenings camping mt on the Yellow River near Plymouth, returning home Sunday morning. In addition to preparing their own meals, their program consisted of fishing, hiking and swimming. Over 100 persons attended the meeting at the Conservation Club House Saturday afternoon in reference to Kramer's Beach. Present was Conservation Officer Lavelle Hanson, Ray Barker, prosecuting attorney of Starke county. and Tom Bell, County Commissioner. Arrangements are being made for a delegation to confer with Director of Indiana Department of Conservation. Donald E. Fultz. Further details as they develop. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hannagen Spent Sunday in Chicago with Mr. Hannagen's sister, Marjorie, and were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Newbome and son. Walter. Word has been received of the death of Jack Hippert on April 25th, formerly of Koontz Lake, and now of Compass Lake, Florida. Mrs. Hippert will be remembered as the former Lil Bronar. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kiechle and children, of Cedar Lake, and Charles McCoy of Warsaw, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. James McCoy Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wirth, of Glenview. 111., were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gjemre Sr. Sunday Mrs. Gjemre accompanied the Wirths to Rochester where they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Graives., The Modern Motners Home Economics Club held their monthly meeting Monday evening at the home of Mrs. William Miller, in Grovertown. Present were eight members and one guest, Mrs. John Baltz. Discussion on taking field trips and a tour of a bakery and TV station in South Bend. They are making arrangements for program planning for the coming year. Games were played during the social hour and prizes were won by Mrs. Doris Allen, and Mrs. Ethelyn Young, and the mystery prize by Mrs. Baltz. Arrangements were made to hold a bake sale on Saturday. CLASS TRIP The members of the Junior Membership Class of the Methodist Church with their adult counselors, made a field trip to South Bend la.st week.
