Tyner School Lists Two Top Senior Students Joan Morris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Morris, Rt. 1, Plymouth, has (been named valedictorian of the 1964 graduating class of Tyner High School. Class salutatorian is Loretta Kling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Kling, Rt. 1, Plymouth. 3. In addition to being an honor student during her four-year high school career, Joan has been an active participant in the Sunshine Society, Band and Chorus, and the local 4-H clubs. She was chosen D.A.R. Good Citizen by her class and was named Betty Crocker "Homemaker of Tomorrow”. In her senior year, Joan was elected secretary of her class and voted FFA sweetheart. She has served as varsity cheerleader and as drum majorette for the marching band. A 4-H Junior Leader Key Award Winner, Joan was news reporter during her 5-year junI ior leader membership. She received a second place rating in the State Forest^ Judging contest and was ‘also a member of the Tyner School's Vegetable Judging Team. An active member in the Tyner E.U.B. Church, she has been I Sunday School secretary two years and is a member of the church choir. She is enrolled at Indiana University. The salutatorian, who plans to enter Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan, as a business education major, was privileged to be selected as delegate to the state and national Youth Power ■ Conferences in Indianapolis and Chicago, respectively, in her junior year. as chaplain one year and news she is treasurer of her class and reporter two years. Presently, she is treasurer of her class and works in the school office. An ardent church worker, she has been church pianist for the past four years and teaches the kindergarten class. Both girls are on the staff of their school paper, "Tynerette,” have taken parts in their class plays, and have served as student librarians. Chamber Meets Today At Noon The Walkerton Chamber of Commerce is meeting this noon, Thursday, for their regular May meeting. Lunch will begin at 12:00 noon at Heil’s Dining room. Several items of business will be discussed at this meeting and all members are urged to attend. Softball Team To Practice In Walkerton The Walkerton Red Sox Softball team will practice and organize In the park on Thursday night (tonight) at 7:30 p.m. for the coming season. The team is again entered in the Mishawaka A league and the schedule will begin the first week in June. Anyone interested in coming out for the team, please be at this . practice. PIANO AND VOICE RECITAL TO BE HEI J) SUNDAY The piano and voice students of Mrs. Kenneth Klinedinst will be presented in a recital Sunday afternoon at two o'clock in the Walkerton Methodist Church.
