Group Os 500 Hears NFO Vice President A crowd of around five hunIrcd persons attended the Charcoal Beef-Burger Supper at the Greene T^wp. School on Monday, April 6th, sponsored by the St. Joseph County NFO. Invocation was given by the Rev. Fred Young of the Tabor and Tecgarden EUB Churches. Erhard Pfingsten, vice president of the organization from Sergeant Bluff. lowa, was the principal speaker. The contents of his speech was as follows: What is killing the family size f irm farm prices. Every farmei knows today that he has a sorus problem and is being choked t v present prices. We have driven 200 thousand farmers off the farm When the Studebaker plant closed its doors, they put 8000 to out of work. In American agriculture we have been closing the same amount of farms in the past ten years and with another 3' 2 million predicted to leave the farm, that would be the same as closing a Studebaker plant every week. Why. when we. as farmers, have the most important industry in this area., do we permit this to happen? We have the product that every man. woman and child needs and wants. Our low prices are also affecting every walk of life that is connected with the nation’s agriculture. Our program Is not one of scarcity. You never made any money when your corn crop failed and the price was high- with nothing to sell. It is when you havo something to sell at cost of
