CANDIDATES TO APPEAR IN A GROUP
Industrial Tract Is Annexed To Town; Earth Moving Work To Begin At Once
The Walkerton Town Council, at their regular meeting on Tuesday night, annexed the 32.46 acre of the Industrial Trad at the west edge of Walkerton, into the town corporation limits. This followed a request by the Walkerton Industrial Committee who has planned extensive work on this trad in the ve^v near future. Heavy equipment from the Engineering Construction Corporation. of Logansport. Ind., will be in Walkerton either late this week or Monday of next to begin leveling work on part of the land Other improvement includes the planning of a road through the tract as well as clearing and adding of town facilities. PTA Presents Its Spring Carnival This Saturday The Walkerton PTA Spring Carnival will be held Saturday. April 11th in the Elementary School. The kitchen will open at 5:00 p.m. Tlie menu will be: • Chili, hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, perfection salad, pie, plain anti chocolate milk, coffee or tea. ice cream cupa. The kitchen is opening an hour early to give everyone a chance to eat before the rest of the carnival opens at 6:00 pm. Tables will be net up in the gym near the kitchen for your convenience Be sure to visit the Village Store where they are featuring German Chocolate cakes and home baked bread along with all the other baked goods There will be a big variety of things at the white elephant counter. The balloon man will be back this year Outside in the parking lot will be the dunking game Bingo and basketball in the gym: the other games will be held in the class rooms of the grade school. There will be a game for every age and prizes for all. See you at the Carnival' Special Movie To Be Shown At WHS There will be a public showing Os the movie "Boy to Man in room 114 at the high school on Thursday evening. April 9. at 7:30. Better Homes Ciub Style Show Is Set For Tonight A 4-H benefit for Lincoln Township Boys and Girls Clubs will br sponsored by the Better Homes Demonstration Club, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday. April 9. at the Walkerton High School. It is a fabric and style show with 38 groupings of family, mother and daughter, and individuals wearing garments made from the fabric of Boaworths Dept. Store, Plymouth Special entertainment has been planned, including a Beatlc Act and a tap and tumbling performance. Mrs Edward Klopfenstein will be pianist. This Is the third year the Home Demonstration Club has staged the benefit with all prerced be ng used for l-H work here. The 4-H advisory board has set up a point system in which to purchase trophies and pins and prizes for deserving 4-H members and each club has been asked to help with the project Tickets at 50c are available at the door from Mrs William Skinner, ticket chairman. BETROTHED The engagement of Jeanette Lee Borer. 601 Abbe Rd . Elyria. Ohio, and James Frederick Foster, Walkerton, has been announced. Miss Borer is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leo Borer of Elyria. Ohio. Mr. Faster is the son of Mr. and Mrs Edward Lazarek, Rt. 2. Walkerton. Miss Borer teaches sixth grade at St. Mary' Elementary School in Elyria. She was graduated from Homer High School. Homerville. Ohio. She attended St. John College in Cleveland, and is now enrolled at Elyria Extension, Kent State University. Mr. Foster was graduated from Walkerton high school. He attended Indiana Central College. He served two years in the U.S, Navy and is now an airman 2 z o attached to the Strategic Air Command's 461 Bombardment Wing at Amarillo Air Force Base, Texas. He also Is attending a school of accounting with LaSalle Extension University. The couple plan to be married at an 11 am. nuptial mass July 4th in St. Mary Church. Elyria. Ohio. Scouts Now Selling Tickets For Scout-A-Rama The North Liberty Boy Scouts are now selling tickets for the annual Scout-A-Rama to be held at the Plymouth Armory on Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2. The Scouts have split the town into four districts and will be contacting every home for tickets this week and next. n q DEATHS □ W illiam L*o Murphy William L > Murphy age 58. of Rt. 3, Walkerton, died at 2:30 a. m. Tuesday in Mercy hospital, Gary. He was born September 15, 1905, In Ottawa, 111. On September 15, 1928, he was married to Adelaide Bvrne In Chicago who survives. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs, Mary Byrne and Mrs. Patricia Leverenz. both of LaPunte, California; Mrs. Rethea Coby and Mrs. Ann Fohrer of Hubart. । Mr Murphy was a former bailiff of the Starke County Circuit Court, Knox Ihi. *D m v .all after 7 pm EST Wednexlty at the Nusbaum Funeral Home.
