Important Meeting Called For North Liberty Residents Tuesday
A very important public meeting has been called by the Town Board of North Liberty for Tuesday, April 7th. Thus meeting, to start at 7:30 p.m.. will be held in the American Legion Hall and will be of interest to all North Liberty resident. The public meeting will inform the public as to what progress has been made to date on tho sewer and sanitation plant program. The Town tsoara nas been working on this project which will call for sewers to be extended to the south and east parts of North Liberty where no present sewers exist, and for a sanitation disposal plant for North Liberty. At this meeting will be the Board members, a representative of Clyde E Williams and (,‘o . of South Bend. and a member of the State Stream Pollution E aid. Who will all be available t< answer any questions that <an lx* brought before the group Also to help inform the public, will be pictures projected on the .m reen of the proposed routing of the aewers, pictures of the propped disposal plant and^a model of the proposed plant, along with the location of same. Not much publicity has been given to thia program to date and that is the cause for the public meeting. It is hoped that any question asked concerning any part of this program can be settled with an answer at this meetm«. North Liberty Alumni Banquet Set For May 16 The North Liberty Alumni Banquet will be held at 6:30 p m. Saturday, May 16. in the Elementary S< hooi Building North Liberty. The 50 year and the 25 year classes to be honored this year are the 1914 class and the 1939 class. We arc planning a good program and an- anticipating a k<«kl attendance. । This year wc are featuring the Alumni Lounge, a social room furnished by Rohs Furniture Store of Walkerton; with soft music by Bob’s Record Shop of North Liberty. Claude V. York To Retire As Superintendent Claude V. York, superintendent of schools for the Polk-Lincoln of schools for the Polk-Lincoln-Johnson School Corporation, has announced that he i s not a candidate for the job of superintendent after the completion of this year's school year. York, who has been in education for over 45 years, informed the school board to this effect that he is retiring after the end of hi s present contract which expires June 30, 1964. York attended schools of Monroe Township and graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1919. He then attended Canterbury College and received his B S. degree in 15*26. He also did work at Columbia University. DePauw, Indiana State College, Purdue and Indiana University where he received his Al S. degree in 1937. Above his M S degree he has done work at Indiana. Purdue and Butler Universities. After serving seven year> as a teacher, and 21 years as a principal. he came to Tyner High School to serve as principal for 16 years before being named as superintendent for the past one and one-half years. Five To Survive May Primary Election A group of 13 nu n from Polk, Lincoln and Johnson Townships will compete in the May primary election for five places on the above mentioned school board. Two men will be selected from Polk and Lincoln Townships and one from Johnson Township. Each township will have a race going on as six have filed from Polk for their two spots, five from Lincoln for the two positions there, and two from Johnson Township for the one seat from that township. This will be the first elected board since the organization of this school district which include-, townships of three counties.
