industrial Fund Drive ^eeds Help Os Everyone The Walkerton Industrial Fund Committee is continuahy increasing their contributions for their drive to complete the purchase of their land and improve it for instant use by industry at the tract at the West edge of Walkerton. This tract, which lies between U-S. 6 and Underwood Road, is expected to soon be a beehive of activity as the committee has dealings with industry that Should result in new buildings this summer. The drive for a goal set at *IO.OOO to complete the purchase as well as the many improvements that are needed to make this land ready for use. have been moving steadily along. It is only through the fine cooperation of you, the people, that this project can be accomplished. The success of this program means much to the community growth and the economy of the area. The shares of stock, which are purchases of voting rights, are selling for SIOO no in this drive and the response has generally been favorable although the drive by no means Is reaching its destination at this time. The committee doing the soIfciting and work of many variaus descriptions, is very g-atoful far the time and consideration that the public has given Tins continued united effort will make a success of the project which Will eventually affect each and every family In the Walkerton area. 154 Entered In WHS Science Fair One hundred fifty four high school and eighth grade students have filed entry blanks for the second annual Walkerton Schools Science Fair to be held March 13 and 14 in the high school gym. The number of entries in each division are: Biology 76; Physics 13; General Science 12; Chemistry 8; Mathematics 2; and ; Home Ec. General Science 43. Additional entries in Elementary Science are expected from the Walkerton Elementary School 1 and Saint Patrick's School. The judges will interview the students entering projects between 2:30 and 3:30 on Friday prior to Uie judging. The judging Will be completed between 3:30 and 7:00 p.m. at which time the doors will open to the public free of charge. William Hickey and Joseph West, graduate students in science at Notre Dame, will serve as judges. Ribbons will be awarded to top place winners and plaques will go to the championship and two reserve champions in the high school division, and a plaque to the best elementary’ room or grade exhibit. An all expense trip to the Regional Science Fair at Manchester College will be given to the championsnip winner in the high » hool division. The public is cordially invited , to visit the Science Fair on Friday, March 13, from 7 to 9 pm. and on Saturday, March 14. from 1 to 4 pm. The awarding of the ribbons will take place Friday evening at 8:30. Plan Church Wide Fellowship March 12 The Women's Association of the United I*resbyterian Church is sponsoring a church-wide fellowship on March 18th at 8:00 p.m. at the church. Gerald Moyer, principal of Chandler School, of Goshen. Indiana, will present the program entitled "The Turning Year.” A special invitation is offered to all the women of the commu* i nity. This will be an evening of devotion, prayer, song and fellowship. It is our hope that this evening । will he a spirit oncne s among the ladies of the community. Here is an opportunity a Christian Women to join together t in an expression of love for our Savior and for one another.
