Following a family dinner at the Pearse home, the Friendship class of tiie North Liberty Methodist Church, with their hu Jmndu as guests, ce>ebrated the Golden Wedding Annivcrsry of Mr and Mm. D. A. Pearse with a party in the church dining room Tuesday evening at 7:00 o’clock. The tables were decorated with yellow chrysanthemum* and yellow’ candles. A lovely arrangement «»f yellow roses centered the serving table Mrs. I Lar old Groves of the Friendship class, baked and decorated the tiered anniversary cake. The Pearsca' daughter, Mn Richard Glover, cut the cake Mrs. Charles Patterson. Mrs Dola Hocker and Mrs. Harold Groves, presided al the seivmg table. A program of music and readings was enjoyed by the group. Devotions were given by Mrs Linder Williams. The P carries granddaughter, Jane Glover, played a piano solo. "TarancUa”. and readings on Friendship weie given by Mrs. Alvin Clark Mm Gary Nelson sang “Ava Maria * and 'Come Unto Him * from HandeTs Messiah, accompanied by Mrs. Glen Shupcrt at the piano and Mrs. H. C Beckwith on the cello, Rev Charles Patetrson rea l the ceremony for the 50th anniversary and gave some appropriate remarks. Th- y are the parents of one daughter, Mrs. Richard Glover, and one granddaughter, Jane Glov*r. both of Warsaw Mr. and Mrs Pearse have been active in the Methodist Church, where Mrs. Pearse had been the organist for fifty years nt the time of her retirement six years ago. Mr Pearse at nne time owned and operated a general store in North Liberty community for many years Singspiration Is Enjoyed By Crowd Os 250 The first Singspiratlon held In Walkerton la.it Sunday was enjoyed by, a group of approximately 250 people at the Walkerton Preabyterlan Church Headlined by Joe Chitwood, a religious recording artist, composer and teacher, the program featured this ty|>e of professional talent and much local talent as well Everyone enjoyed the group ungmg as well as listening to the sjwi ial numbers. The Walkerton Ministerial Association was behind the program even though the planning and procedure wa< done bv the laymen of the community It has already been planned to continue these services from time to time with the next such penice set for Sunday.
