Shamrocks Top Greene For 2nd Season Victory North Liberty won its second game of 11 by defeating rival Greene 76-60. The Shamrocks led all the way making 31 points from the foul line. Liberty's biggest lead came in the first quarter when they were ahead with 54 seconds to play, 16-10. Neal Allsop sliced the lead by hitting two foul shots and a basket, to make it a 16-14 lead. The second quarter the Shamrocks pulled ahead to end the first half. 40-27. In the third quarter. Liberty had a 10 point lend with 3:17 minutes left to play. The Bulldogs cut this to a 12 point lead by the end of the third quarter. Greene sliced the load even more with 5:21 minutes to play. 62-55. That was as close as they came The Shamrocks then pulled ahead 56-74 with 1:16 to play The game ended with the final score 76-60. The leading scorers for Liberty were Ron Porter with 21 and Denny Smith with 17 points For the Bulldogs, it was Ralph White wdth 22 The Shamrocks' record is 2-6 and the Bulldogs have a 3-3 record. Liberty's B Team won also 3726 in making their record 7 and 4. High scorers were Bruce Vernon for the Shamrocks with 12, and Mickey Morris had 13 points for the Bulldogs. Shamrock B Team Tops Walkerton In B Tourney The North Liberty B Team opened the St. Joseph County B Team tourney with a win Monday night as they topped Walkerton’s B Team In an overtime game 68-48. Walkerton Nursing Home The Chrstmas Season i« over, but the joy you brought to the guests at the Walkerton Nursing Home is still a reality. The fruit and gnod'es are gone, but the favors and the memores of a delightful time linger on and on. We want to thank all of the young people from Walkerton and North Ldiertv who made favors, brought fruit, cookies and candy. The Indians looked as if they were going to run away with it as they jumped to a 16-7 first quarter lead as Randy Cripe was collecting seven points to pace the attack. However, in the second period, it was just the opposite as John Fannin took charge for the Shamrocks and paced them to a 22-21 lend. Dave Scott got all of Walkerton’s second quarter points, five. Fannin was just getting up steam as the second half began as hr tossed In 10 more in the third quarter as they held thrir lead. 37-35. Cripe again took charge getting eight of Walker’ points. ( The last quarter was nip md tuck all the way with it eventually ending in a 47-47 tie. The overtime was all North Lib< rty after the big mon in the middle fouled out for Walkerton.
