Nelson reportedly struck his head while diving and was near drowning until the rescue efforts . by the Fire Department revived him. He was rushed to LoPorle by ambulance where he was i treated and held in the hospital for a few days. i . — RAKE SALE AUGUST 17TH The Right Hand Class of the Walkerton Methodist Church will have a Bake Sale on Saturday, 1 August 17th. from 9 am. to 12 noon at the former Walkerton 1 Sundries Building in Walkerton. • A complete line of baked gods will be available.
Lincoln Twp. 4-H Clubs Have Float In Parade The Lincoln Township 4-H Clubs entered a very attractive float at the St. Joseph County 4-H Fair July 30. The theme for the float was “Generations of 4-H’ers ” Mrs. Stanley Tuttle and her four daughters. Jackie. Carol, Laura and Lisa, depicted this by being past, present and future 4-H'ers. Our thanks go to Mr. and Mrs. Bernard West hues for their wagon and help. Denslow Doll for his Jeep, and Linder Schmeltz for driving in the parade. The Lincolnettes were in charge of the flower arrangements at the County Dress Revue Dinner held at the Lakeville Methodist Church July 31. The following organizations and individuals receive our greatest appreciation for their vases and flowers: Methodist and Presbyterian Churches of Walkerton. Mrs. Ray Strader, Mrs. Albert Ray, Mrs. Stanley Tuttle > and Mrs. Robert Wardman. • FThe local Achievement Night will be held Thursday, August 8 at 6:30 pm. in the Walkerton i High School gym. Wavers will also be given out at this time for any 4-H‘er interested in going to the State Fair, August 27. • A Few Bus Reservations Still Available The Walkerton Chamber of Commerce has announced that a few reservations for bus transpor. tat ion are still available for the Sunday trip to Chicago to see the double header between the Chicago W’hite Sox and Detroit Tigers. With many people supplying their own transportation, there are a few spots available on the bus should any ticket holder change their mind and decide to use this service. The charge is $3.80 per person. All the tickets arc sold as any excess had to be turned back to the Chicago White Sox. The bus will leave the Walkerton High School parking lot at 10:30 Sunday morning. This will leave plenty of parking room for the cars of those driving to the school. Summer Band Program Ends This Friday This week closes the summei Music Program at Walkerton However, Mr. Robinson will be a* the* school the last week of August. All school music and intseuments should be in to Mr. Robinson by Friday evening unless special arrangements have beer made with him. Also, all students who need their instruments repaired, please have them in by this timo. The final band concert of th* summer will be held Friday evening at 7:00 on the vacant lot across from Nick's Super Mark< t.
