Reservations Due For Chamber's Tim Gardner Day In Chicago
The Walkerton Chamber of Commerce iTim Gardner Day’ tickets for the White Sox-Detroit double header on Sunday, August 11. must be purchased in the next few days. A block of tickets has been purchased for this day when the group will see the ball game in respect of Tim Gardner, tha White Sox batboy for 1963 from Walkerton. This venture is available to all Tickets and bus tickets can b< purchased at the lndependen’« News Co., or from Chamber ol Commerce secretary,Bob I’rbin, but must be pun ha ed by Thur • day. August 1. Tickets are s2<>o and bus fare on -chartered buss> i is $3.80. You may purchase the ticket alone and furnish yout own transportation or the combined rate will relieve you of all responsibility except m< .ding the bus. The Walkerton Lions Club has already reserved one of the busses for this day, but plenty of space remains for the rest. Plan to join the group, get a group together, for it is open to all, but tickets must be reserved as soon as pos^ible. The busses will leave from the Walkerton High School parking lot at 10t30 that morning with a stop planned at the last Toll Road Plaza on the way in. Twelve Local ^^^Students At Band Clinic Twelve Walkerton school musicians are among the 102 select high school musicians accepted in Indiana Stale College's 1963 Summer Band Climc-Workahop running July 29 through August 8 here. Students from Indiana. Illinois and Ohio were accepted. / Those from Walkerton named are: Patsy Brown, tenor saxophone; Susan Brown, flute; Robert Dewhirst, cornet; I^mra Divine, alto saxophone; Virginia Gilmer, clarinet; Terry Keck clarinet; George King, trombone; Terry Mayfield comet; Jackie Scarbrough, clarinet; David S 'ott, percussion and Kent Schweder, trombone. Seven New Carlisle students were also accepted. The band clinic is to be directed by Joseph A. Gremels|s her. 1 S.C. professor of music, and George M Graesch, associate professor of music and director of the college’s Marching and Symphonic Bands. Daily sessions will be on the stage of the air-conditioned Tilson Music Hall in the Tirey Memorial t’nion Building. The 102 high school musicians will be joined in the summer band by college music students ami high school band directors. A camp-type program has been prepared for the high school musicians and will include band rehearsals, student conducting class, theory class, dance band, music listening, special music, movie . private lessons, ioctional rehear - als. informal dances, swimming, tennis and other activities. T|he band will present a concert on Wednesday evening August 7. nt 7:30 o'clock in the evening in the Tilson Music Hall. The public is cordially invited to attend the concert. There is no admission charge.
