130 Attend Lions Picnic The Walkerton Lions Club members and their families, enjoyed the annual picnic held Wednesday, July 10. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rains. The group came ready for fun and feast as a crowd of over 150 was present. Other than the usual picnic dinner that was enjoyed by all, water skiing, swimming, canoe tilts, croquet, basketball and boat rides occupied the time of those who wanted activity other than just watching and talking. The Lions members had a short business meeting and during this time, agreed to fill a bus for the Chamber of Commerce White Sox trip coming on (Sunday, August 11. Secretart’ Denslow Doll is taking reserations which will be sold on a first come, first served basis among the member and their wives The bus will seat 39 persons. There will be no meeting in August with the next regular meeting being held in September. This is the Teachers' Night, with president Jake Powell in charge.

Indiana, spent two weeks visiting her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Zahrn and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. DeLoyce Cripe and family spent the week end with her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kreighbaum in Danville. Indiana. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Pavey were in Indianapolis recently where Mrs. Pavey underwent a checkup at Robert Long hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Grote returned Monday from a trip thru the West. They visited rell atives in Idaho and Utah. They also visited Glacier National Park in Montana and Yellowstone National Park where they caught their limit of land-locked salmon trout for two days. Mr. and Mrs. Newton Williams attended a picnic Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Cain, Winona Like. This group, known as Win's Chicks of 56 were matrons and patrons of the OES in Distric t 20 in 1956. Mr. and Mrs. Alva Grenert were pleasantly surprised when their son. John, of Greeley. Colo., arrived home Saturday for the week end. John will be a senior at Colorado State College. Saturday afternoon callers were Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Grenert and family, William Ullery, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Doerr and family of South Bend; Mr. and Mrs Win Grenert and family. Green; Mr. and Mrs. Chester LaGue and Jan and Mr. and Mrs. George Grenert and Billy of South Bend.

Neal Weakly, of Indianapolis, and hr- fiancee, Sandra Lee 1 Ci isman of Martinsville, sp nt the week end with his parents, Mi. and Mrs. Ronald Weakly. Miss Barbara Lidy, Grand American Flag Bearer, and her parents, attended church and the reception of the Grand Worthy Advisor, Karen Camden, of Linten, Indiana on Sunday. Mrs. Eugene Gerber and children of Pleasant Hill, California, arrived Saturday for a six weeks visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs Charles Hinz. They will also visit relatives and friends in Ohio, Mr. Gerber will join the family later. Mrs. Ix'on McKesson and Mr. and Mrs Foster Davenport returned home from Minong. Wis., last week after two weeks of fishing. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Richey and Gary returned home last Wednesday from Daytona Beach, Florida, where they visited Mr, Richey's mother. Mrs. Charles Richey, and his brother, Joe and his sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ric hard Melton. Mrs. Gilbert Zahrn was called to St. Petersburg, Florida, becau.se of the serious illness of her mother. Mrs. Pearl Hazelbaker. who underwent major surgery Monday. Mrs. Mary Bauer and Mrs. Clyde Bick are attending the School of Missions this week at DePauw University, Greencastle. They are serving as delegates of the WSCS of the Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Leßoy Coleman and family are new residents in Walkerton. The Colemans moved to 605 Harrison St., coming from Bourbon, Indiana. Ora Harder, Bob Powers, Jim Williams and Bob Urbia were in Chicago Friday night to see the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers game. Mrs. A. P. Catelani and children of Petaluma. California, are spending a month here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jones. S N Russell Jones of I^ake Mead Naval Training Center. Las Vegas. Nevada was also a recent guest in the Jones home. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gore and sons, of Crete 111., entertained last Saturday evening in honor of the birthday of Mrs. Gore's mother, Mrs Frank Dunn. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harris and Margie, of Chicago. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bandendistel were Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Finkle for the week. Other guests were Mrs George Reusch Jr., and son Tommy, of Mitchell, Ky.; Mrs. Edith Sicner and daughter Celeste of Denver, Colorado and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Duffey of Mishawaka.
