Basketball League The Celtics got back on the winning trail by downing the Hawks 40-24. Mlekodaj and Rininger lead the Celts' scoring and Albert was high for the Hawks. In the second game, the Pistons, playing with only three playci . edg’d the Lakers 42-35. Gad Ross, Jim Fraser and Barry Hughes had 21, 13 and 8 points respectively. Pat Whitaker and Dennie Hurt got the only Plnlhe hits. Kent RihlAger gave only one hit to tire Twins. Bell got the only safety off Rininger. In tho laM half of the fifth, Jim Fraser reac^ea first on an error stole second and third, and came in on SteVe Mlekodaj’s infield out. The next night the league leading Angels heat tho hard luck A’s 5 to 3. Gail Ross had two of the four Athletic hits. Drew Bergland and Larry Alward had the two hits for the Twins. On Friday, the A s fell prey to the Phillies 4 to 1. Rininger and Doug Anderson pitched one-hit hall while the Phillies were coleeting three hits off Mike Summerfield. Mike Groves got 2 of the Phillies' hits. Jerry Roush and Gail Ross pitched the A’s to their second game or the season as tlw A s got only-on^ hit,single by Mike Summerfield, but with 11 walks and a couple of key errors they scrambled for their five runs. Kerry Kane had a double for P losing Phillies.
