THE AVEBAGE GOLFER found out over the week end that bad golf is subject to everyone. The shooting in the National Open al the Brookline Country Club left something to be trsiicd as the scores soared to he ights that w.-re almost unimaginable. The players hit the course verbally last week before the tourney opened as they discussed the high roughs, the narrow fairw ivs the placement of traps and the small greens This is an old course and the urcens of the <>l9 courses are smaller than is the policy today. HOWEVER AHi’ER THE plav began, it was the gusty wind that caused most of the trouble. This and th? small green- made shooting an odd thing m many mst ,nces as for the fom rounds b< 'ore the* playoff. there ware only tl.iee sub-par round.-. This is unusual as many tourneys have a number of sub par rounds every time the pros tout the course. REES Xll Cuiulitior.c^ Thin -(hx.
