C. Emmet Eiler Is Honored By Lions And Friends C. Emmet Eiler. present Superintendent it Ciiunty Schools and a toimer sup i mli ndent in the Walkerton School system, was surprised by a group of fi lends and the Walkerton Lions Club Monday night, ala party in his honor. At what appeared to be a regular Lions Tradie.-/ Night, Emmet found out at the meeting that, he was the object of the entertainment. The occasion was brought about siv rtly before the Eders will mm to a residence* in Mishawaka, where Mr. Eder has joined the stall ot Bethel College. Following dinner, some singing and a bn *f word ol business, Branson Hiatt began reading from a script entitled, "It Could Be You", with the intended of course being Mr. Eiler. Following the reading of the achievements of the various activities of Mr. Eder s in the past seven years, George Parks, president of the Walkerton Lions Club, presented Emmet with an engraved wrist watch from his friends in Walkerton. Mrs. Eder was given a floral piece and a ch.use lounge chair from which she was expected to keep an eye on him while working in their yard. Emmet then was given his chance to speak and being a school man, he completely fulfilled his duty in this part. Mrs. Eibr ak > expressed thanks for this evening in their honor. Two of the Filer’s three children were present, one son Don and his wife, and their daughter Mary Ann Bilyeau. They were introduced to the group also. Following this, many gm sts from associations other than Walkerton citizens were introduced and several gave short talks of their assor iations w ith Mr. Filer in his years as County Superintendent and through his work on the School B< organization committee of St. Joseph County. Special friends from ont-of. town were Faye Hooten and Fred Humes and their wives who served on the school reorganization committee with Emmet; Mr. and

More 1 detail will fo'Pw about this meeting. i Gene Palmer Graduates At Culver Gene Palmer, son of Mr. and Mrs Kichaid J. Palmer of Koontz ktke, graduated at the 69th ani nual commencement exercises of the Culver Military Academy on i Juno 5. Gene ha been a top academic student and has been honored for his achievement. His activities ' include editorial supervisor of the school yearbook, chairman of the Social committee, chairman of the , company council, member of the Cadet Club. Honor Council, Theater, Chapel Choir and on the board of governors of the senior class, which regulates class activities. He also parte paled in intramural wre fling, track, crew, 1 swimming, football and volleyball. H • is a captain in the military program and serves as a com- ! pany commander.
