Walkertoir Athletic Boosters Plan First Annual Letterman's Banquet
The Walkerton Athletic Boosters Club, an organization formed this past school year to aid the athletic programs of Walkerton High Sch<xil, will have their first annual Letterman's Banquet on Thursday, May 16, at the Walkerton Elementary School gym at 6:30 pm This evening is planned as a big one for the letter winners of Walkerton High Scho >1 from 1025 to the present date. ■ “''-ft A highlight of the evening will he the nuun speaker. Dwight Tallman, coach of Muncie Central Bearcats, the 1963 State Champions of Indiana^) will deliver the address at this banquet. /Tallman is the youngest coach ever to direct a team to the state crown He is a former New Castle and DePauw star »n basketball and football He was a high school teammate of Jerry Rains, president of the Athletic Boosters. Coming with Tallman to the banquet will be Rich Jones, Muncie Central’s star guard who will bn wearing the number 1 for Indiana in the annual all star ba - Acetball game against Kcntu< ky in June. Snethen Contest Thursday Night The annual music and speech contests sponsored by E. O Snethen. Indianapolis attorney and graduate of Walkerton High School, will be held at 7:30 pm Thursday, May 2. in the Walkerton High School gymnasium. The Snethen contest, a traditional event of the Walkerton High School has afforded the most talented students of music and speech a rewarding medium for public and financial recognition now over thirty years.
