Eiler has had a wide range t practical expirience, noted the college professor, having taught in nearly all levels of grade ard high school, in addition to 28 years a.s an administrator. The superintendent has spent 19 years as a principal of four schools and nine years as a superintendent in three -<h' 1 yctems. He also served for years during Word War II with the U. S. Army Air Corps a a Communications Security Officer in the middle east, Afina and Europe. , Following the war. ho was the superintendent of Ameri' an Schools in Wiesbaden. Germany from 1919 until 1951. and from 1951 until 1954. he served as a- - Indiana superintendent of public instruction. A native* of Adams County. Indiana. he graduated from Laketon High School and received his bachelor’s degree in 1927 from Manchester College, North Manchester, Ind Ho received his master's degree in 1936 from the I niversity of Chicago. Filer also has taken additional post graduate training at the University of Vienna, Austria: Indiana University, Bloomington; Purdue University. T^fayetto. and Ball State Teachers College, at Muncie. Ho has been a life member since 1929 of the National Edu. cation Assn, and Is a member of the American A sn. of School Superintendents. He also is a past national chairman of the Overseas Teachers' Assn. Other memh<n*hips include the Indiana Schoolmen's Club: South Bend Fit Id Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, national educational honorary fraternity; and the St. Jo,.ph County S holnr hip Committee.
