He has examined a thousand species of vegetation from all over the world looking for extracts. A few month ago. the University reports Professor Kupchan isolated from an Indian plant an agent effective against a type of cancer The search goes on. Cryogenic liquids so cold they make most metals brittle can be handled safely in new Tube Turns welded pipe fittings made of high-strength aluminum alloy. The lower the temperature, the tougher the metal gets. The fittings will carry liquid helium (at 452 degrees below Zero F, the coldest liquid known) for use in research. An orange flavored fluoride tablet aimed at preventing tooth decay has been developed. It’s primarily intended for pregnant women and children in areas where drinking water is deficient in fluorides. A witchweed hunt is on in the Carolinas. The parasite, discovered in 1956. attac ks corn, sugar cane, sorghum, grasses, sedges and some broadleafed plants, advises the U. S Department of Agriculture.
