RELEASE LOCAL FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
New Coach Has Small Squad Turnout Walkerton's head football coa< h. Dan Ransberger. has opened the 1962 football season as he niet his new team at an organization meeting and then started practice sessions on Wednesday, the first day allowed by the IHSAA. A total of 26 boys turned out originally with possibilities of a few more boys turning out in the next few days. At present the team is practicing two times a day, each morning anil afternoon. The Walkerton scheduL is still not smoothed out. as trying to fit into the schedule of hools that ere already playing is not too easy. The schedule calls for eight games, four each at home and on the road. It also has four games scheduled in September ami four in October, but the aren’t evenly spaced throughout the two months. The complete schedule to date, with the possibility of a time change or two, and one date a little in question, is as follows: Saturday, September 1, 2:60 p.m., North Liberty, there. Tuesday, September 11, 7:30 p.m., Nappanee, there. Saturday, September 15. (time uncertain) River Forest, there. Tuesday, September 25, 4:30 pm.. Plymouth B Team, here. Friday, October 5, 7:30 p.m., Knox. here. Friday, October 12, 7:30 p.m., Rolling Prairie, there. Monday, October 15, 7:30 p.m., Washington-Clay B Team. here. Tuesday. October 23. 7:30 p.m.. This program will follow the usual ten cent admission with dancing to recorded music from 8:30 to 11:00 pm. Chaperones are always available, but ' anyone interested in helping with this job, contact Bob T’rbin. LEGION PICNIC SINDAV AT VERKLERS The American Legion and Auxiliary will hold their annual picnic Sunday, August 19. at 12:30 pm. at the Dick Verkier grove. Hrizes and games for the children and adults will be enjoyed. Brihg a covered dish and own table service.
