Liberty Twp. : Has 4-H Fair Winners The Grand Champion pen of fat lambs was shown by Nancy Mangus, of Liberty Township. Nancy also won the top Sheep Showmanship award and first place award on her pen of yearling ewes. Nancy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R Mangus and has been in the sheep projet t six years. Patty Markle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Markle, had a Reserve Champion horse, and two frist place awards on her horse and pony entries. Albertha Brinkhoff. Liberty Township’s outstanding Lairy Club member, won first place ribbons on her junior yearling and !wo-ycar-old cow entries. Also two second place ribbons and one third on her other dairy entries. Band Presents Final Concert This Summer The final concert in the series of ten summer concerts by the Walkerton High School Band will be held in downtown Walkerton on Friday evening, August 10. at 7:00 p m. The band wishes to thank all the people who have attended these concerts, plus all the support we have received from everyone for the past year. This will be the final concert condm ted by Mr. Weil, as he will be leaving for his new position in the Evansville school system in the near future. Mr. Shaeffer, the new band director, will be taking over when school begins. The usual 10 cent admission will be charged at the door. The Walkerton Lions Club has appointed committees among the members to line up the chaperons Ray Chapman is in charge this month and any volunteers who are not members arc still very welcome. or about 93 per cent completion. This record is only poesihh because of the support given by the parents involved. Walkerton To Enroll For Kindergarten Superintendent Virgil Gwm, of the Walkerton-Lincoln Township S< hools, has annoum ed the following plan for enrollment of Kindergarten students for the coming year. Any student to be enrolled in Kindergarten this year from Walkerton - Lincoln Township, must be enrolled at the superintendents office in the elementary school building by Wednesday, August 15. Any child entering kindergarten must be five years of age on or before September 1,1962, and for the first grade, must be six years of age on or before September 1. 1962. The enrollment date as such has been set due to an apparent overcrowded condition of the kindergarten this year With the enrollment deadline, an ample op portunity will he allowed for ' »m_ plate and satisfactory plans to l»e mad. before the s< imul year begins. The Walkerton-Lincoln Town, ship students will be accepted first, then if space and facilities are available. *tud« nts will be taken from Johnson Township next, and then Starke and Marshall counties.
