United Missionary Church Holds Conference The 20th annual conference of the Indiana District of the United Missionary Church was held June 26, 27 and 28th at the U. M. Camp Grounds south of Elkhart. The conference was attended by pastors and lay delegates from the 41 churches of the District. The Rev. K. E. Geiger, General Supt. of the denomination, served as chairman for the meeting. The conference sermon was delivered Tuesday evening by Rev. C. E. Bell, Assistant pastor cf the Gospel Center Church of South Bend. On Wednesday evening. Glenn Hamess, of LaPorte. John Moran, of North Manchester. Larry Secor, cf Burr Oak. Michigan, and Dale Waiterhouse, of Mendon, Michigan, all graduates of Bethel College, were ordained for the ministry. Western Evangelical Seminary, Portland, Oregon. Dr. Petticord is also past president, of the Nation, al Association of Evangelists. Thursday evening's program was conducted by the Ycuth For Christ "Teen Team" which recently returned from a three month tour of the British Isles, Holland and France. The team held rallies and conducted services in churches and schools. Stan Reilly, of Elkhart, who was the preacher of the team while cn tour, delivered the evening message and was assisted in music by other members of the team which included Steve Stomp, of Goshen; Gayle .Moran, of Spring Arbor, Mich.; Dick Eps, of Gary; and Hill Balmer, of Elkhart who is also the Elkluiit County Y F. C. Director. Special workshops were conducted during the conference by Rev. R< y Lawson, of Strathroy, Ontario, with special emphasis on reaching the youth of the church. During the conference, it was noted that the Indiana District has enjoyed a steady growth with
a property valuation which now exceeds two and a half million dollars. During the past year, two new churches have been started. One is located north cf Osceola, Indiana, and the other in Shipshewanna, Indiana. Total membership for the district is now 3,180 and Sunday Schoo] enrollment is 8,509. Rev. Orlan Gohlen was reelected to serve his 2nd tenn as District Supt., and Gordon Bacon, pastor at the Beulah Church in Elkhart. Ind., was re-elected t< his 11th term as secretary of the conference. William E. White, of Elkhart, was elected treasurer of the district. He replaces Seth Rohrer, also of Elkhart, who has seiwcd the past six years in that capacity. Rev. Paul Loucks was returned to the Koontz Lake Church for a three year tenn. Dr. Wm. Carter was elected tc the Board of Eduration and the Pastoral Relations Committee.
