LARGE CROWDS ATTEND 4th PROGRAMS
Accidents Injure Several And Do Property Damage Several persons were injured in three accidents last week and considerable property damage was caused to the involved automobiles. On Thursday. June 28, at 8:35 p.m., a two-car accident oc< ured on Indiana 23 one mile south cf Walkerton. Leslie L. Williams, route 1, Grovertown. and Jetty DePry, Bloomington, Ind., were involved in one accident as Dopey, northbound, pulled out to pas s another northbound ante. He hen saw the southbound Williams vehicle, but the cars collided befote he cculd pull back into his own lane. Damages amounted to $150.00 to DePoy's car and $250.00 tc Williams' car. De Wayne P. Williams, 11. a passenger in the Williams car, was taken to a lot al doctor's office and treated for a bruised left shoulder. DePcy was arrested for improper passing and paid a fine and costs totaling $18’.75. On June 29, at 11:50 p.m., also on State Road 23, but this time two miles nerth of North Liberty. cars driven by Melvin F. Newcomer, 28656 New Road, North Liberty, and Clem J. Borkowski. 59759 Myrtle Road, were involved in an accident. (Newcomer was southbound on 23, preparing to make a left turn onto New Road and pulled intc the northbound lane and had a sneezing attack. Borkowski, northbound cn 23. pulled off the right side of 'he toad to avoid a head-on collision and skidded into a telephone pole and bounced into the Newcomer car. He turned up at about 1 on a m. at the Byrcn Stevens farm home. 2 miles east on New Road. The Moore boy could net recall where or whyhe ran from the accident. He was taken to Memorial hospital, South Bend. Newcomer was arrested for driving left nf center. Damages to the Newcomer car were $359, and Borkowski’s was a tetai loss. On Sunday. July 1, at 3:55 p.m., Gerald Rose. 16, was involved in an accident on Tyler Road, one-quarter mile east cf Indiana 23 just north of Walkerton. Rose mot an on-ccming car at the Railroad crossing and gave way to the right and struck the railroad tracks, lost control of his car and went down a t-n foct embankment. Damages tn the car amounted to approximate ly SSOO. TEEN DANCE FRIDAY IN WALKERTON The weekly Teen Dance in Walkerton will be held nn Friday night at the Youth Building. The dance will be from R:3O to 11:09 with recorded music. The admissicn price of ten cents will be charged at the door. POLICE NEWS John Oliver, Medaryville, Indiana, was arrested May 20th for reckless driving. He was fined $5.00 plus costs of $17.75, this past week. Adam Ganz, New Ixndon, Ohio, was arrested July Ist for speeding. He paid a SIOO fine and costs of $17.75. Robert A Heet. of Plymouth. Indiana, was bitten July 3 by a dog owned by Richard Moreau, Shamrock Street. Walkerton. He was treated by a Iccnl doctor, and the dog was placed under two weeks observation. Today’s theory: The Lord provides and taxes take away.
