COUPS' CIRCUS.
Truly Montr xhibition Willi Many AttrHctive Feature. Syracuse (jouiier.l Coups' Circus ravo two exhibitions in this city yesterday t j audiences that testi-d thy capacity cu ui maimnoiu wm. rnny jri oterday inornirig the Btreetn b'gan to present a lively appearance, and by 10 o'cU ck tho main thoroughfares were nearly imputable, mm " so great was the crowd upon them. Those who watched and waited lor the street parade were at first disappointed, owing to dolay occasioned by a detention of the special train that brought tbe monster show from Little Falls to Syracuse. At one timo it was foared that the street parade would have to bo abandoned, but Mr. Coup declared that he would make a street parsde if his show was not unloaded before 1 o'clock. Mr. Coup is a man who believes in keeping faith with the public in every particular and as ho had promised a parade he was bound to make one in any event. The delay in unloading the monster show led to rumors of various character which gained currency upon the streets. The chief cause assigned was an alleged strike among the laborers attached to the show. Nothing could be more abiurd than this rumor. A careful inquiry amor.g the laborers revealed the fact that they were perfeclly contented, were well p?iid and had rthought of making complaints of any sort The men also stated that none of their number had struck or contemplated doing so. It is impossible to tell wnere tneso HK-tiru rumor originated, but in the opinion i f the management they were set alloat by some would-be rival concern, with the ue.-pii N.b'o intention of injuring Mr. Coup's bu.-ircss. They uiterly failed, howeer, to produce the desired effect, as the immense audience at both the afternoon and the evening per formances abundantly testified. As for the show itself, w can conscientiously say that a better one was never givin in this city. The street parade was a most imposing one, The horsos were splendid specimens and the chariots and wagons wore all new and bright looking. Inside the monster tent, which, by the way, is the largest ever constructed in this country, there were three rings which were occupied from beginning to end by performances of a most attractive, novel and interesttnir character. The horseback riding was skillful and daring; the athletic performances were particularly good; the Zulu and Indian braves attracted much attention; the wondertul leap of 100 feet through the air by Lulu was certainly the most startling act ever performed by nn athlete; the Broncho horses and the ponies showed wonderful intelligence and sagacity, and the tamed 4,Nettle" demonstrated her cleverness by jumping over a tive-barrcd gate and four horses. But the mt enjoy able part of the programme was tue last, comprising as it did hurdle, fhit and chariot pacing, for it was evident the contestants were thoroughly in earnest, and each desirous of winning. There is one fault to be found with Coup's great show. It is altogether too vast and too largo to be comprehended at one sitting. In other words there is too much of it. There is material enough in this concern to jnake a half a dozen ordinary shows. Mr. Coup has religiously kept every promise he made to the public, and when his next great show appears in Syracuse he can rely upon being greeted by still larger audiences than those who were delighted with his show yesterdav.
