They are going to vote for Adams for Sheriff. In attempting to get off the Sons of Honor excursion train, Tuesday night, as it was moving out of the depot, a colored woman fell and came near being run over by the cars. The funeral of Mrs. Vick took place last Tuesday from the Michigan Street Baptist Church. The deceased was an old and respected member of the Order of Doves. She died of consumption. The Independent Sons of Honor took out on tneir excursion to Liouisvuie, Tuesday night, six well-tilled coaches. Everybody seemed to be in the best of spirits, and we presume a good time was had. Harry Adams was instrumental in secur ing the appointment of the first colored juror who served in 31 anon uountv. Augustus Turner, deceased, was the man. lhe colored votera will remember this when the election comes off, and no ingratitude will be shown John F. Kiingensmith, formerly of Indianapons, and an agent of General A. U. btreight, in the lumber business near Old l own, Ark was brutally murdered at that place last Sunday, by Calvin Page, of Crawfordsville, this State. It seems that the murder was tha re suit of an old grudge. Page was arrested. Sad Accident. Another striking incident, illustrative of the uncertainty of our tenure of life, occurrred last " ednesday evening, at Acton, a station on the I., O., bt. Lu A O. road. Mr. Andrew Philips, living at No. 312 W. North St., a cook by profession, was employed by parties doing business at the camp grounds near Acton. Mr. rhilips, having come up to Indianapolis, boarded the Lebanon express, a train which does not stop at Acton. Arrived at the station, he leaped from the train: but it was a fatal leap. He was thrown against the platform, and though not having has neck broken, as stated by a morn ing paper, he was fatally Injured. It seems that he was thrown violently against the platform, the edge striking him about the
center of the breast, injuring him internally. One of the arms had a severe bruise, and there "was an ugly cut on the chin. The train was immediately stopped, and the iniured man taken up and brought to the city; but before reaching home he died. ThA deceased was a married man, and
