tAJ Society and personal notes for the Sunday issue of tie Journal, to secure publication, mutt It in the hands of the city editor Vy Saturday noon. An invitation to a dinner or luncheon rather leida over one to a reception or any ether function. The guests of a necessityare limited to the number of plates a host ess can comfortably place and serve, and therefore the company Is more select. For such an entertainment the finest service the house aflords is brought forth, and the handsomest and most elective ware that can now he placed on a table is cut glass. Its sparkle and shine make a better show than the rarest and costliest china. So much has glass superceded china that the manufacturers are bringing out new styles every season, and the latest importations are too exquisite for mere words to describe. The newest is the Austrian cut glass, with its gold decoration and Wat teau pictures. The most delicate traceries, like cobwebs, and glowing with the colors of the rainbow are duplicated on this crystal. The shapes are as odd as the designer could invent, and several pieces on a table would almost make one forget to eat. For parlor ornaments the Austrian cut-glass comes in the shape of vases, tall glasses for a single longstemmed blossom. There has been such a revolution in the china and glass fashions that a collection of one or the other, or both, has become a fancy for many a woman. Dressing-cases are supplied with every sort of appurtenance in china and glass for the toilet, and the modern belle's dresser is a miniature bullet One finds Dresden comb and brush trays, perfume bottles, hair-pin boxes, powder boxes, pin trays, manicure boxes, with DresdenLandled polisher, file, scissors, etc.: even the comb and brush have china handles, and the dozen and one other articles for which only a belle can find use. Silver comes second, but to bo on the top notch In style the toilet-table must bo decorated with china, Dresden or Koyal Worcester, Personal Mention Mr. Will Rhodes has gone to Chicago to reside permanently.
